When we think about the environment, it's essential to consider everything from what you eat at home or how often your clothes dry.... Green building has become an increasingly popular topic in recent years. More and more people are looking to build environmentally friendly homes, and businesses are starting to catch on to the sustainable trend. We have stressed that there are no short-term solutions for environmental problems like climate change because they are effects by humans burning fossil fuels which release carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. One way people can reduce their impact on Earth? Use sustainable building materials! If you want to know more about it or are planning to construct an environment-friendly building, reach out to us and we'll guide you: 👇 Email: officegbcug@gmail.com Green Building Council of AustraliaGreen Building Council NigeriaGreen Building Advisorgreen building materialsKenya Green Building SocietyGreen Building Education and Research AcademyTRUDY MUWANGAZoe Kwagala (G.M.U.I.P.E)Tina MuwangaMary Angella NakiyingiAngellah NyakatoEng. Changing climate means we have to change the way we grow and build
About us
The Green Building Council Uganda is an independent, non-profit organisation, member of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) working to increase environmental awareness and sustainability in Uganda’s urban and rural environments. Our mission is to lead the transformation of Uganda’s built environment: through low carbon, climate resilient, environmentally sustainable green building practices in the construction of buildings and infrastructure. Our advocacy is in response to climate change, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to fulfill our international agreements, protect the natural environment and public health of citizens. Our changing climate means we must rethink the way we build. Our approach is integrative and collaborative: creating sustainable communities and resilient urban spaces requires built environment professionals and all members of society to rally. We work with central and local government, civil society, NGOs, businesses in building and allied sectors to foster a common language, vision and commitment to the development of sustainable urban spaces that provide safe, inclusive and healthy environments for people to live and work with adequate housing and critical infrastructure. Our core activities are advocacy, education, training of professionals, rating and certification of buildings to deliver impact in four strategic areas — climate action, health and wellbeing, local re sources and circularity, green finance, housing and infrastructure. Raising Uganda’s profile through regional cooperation and stakeholder engagement Member of World GBC’s global network of over 80 Green Building Councils, GBCUG is a founder mem ber of the Africa Regional Network (ARN), comprising 17 African GBCs working to ensure that the views and interests from the continent are represented. It is a co-creator of: ‘The Africa Manifesto for Sustainable Cities and the Built Environment’.

Well done our Minister of Energy and mineral development Ruth Nankabirwa, we appreciate your efforts in the energy sector.
Last week on Friday, I officiated the launch of the Lake Victoria fuel transportation project - Double Hull product tanker with support from Mahathi Infra Services Pvt. Ltd. We continuously celebrate the unwavering investment that we have received from Mahathi as far as transportation and storage of petroleum products is concerned. Together with Mahathi, the country has made substantial progress in our fuel transportation and storage endeavors. Currently, Mahathi has the capacity to transport 90 million litres of petroleum products per month with the operation of 2 ships. They also have a storage capacity of up to 70 Million litres giving us an upper hands in terms of buffer stock considering the current policy through Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC).
