It was such a huge honour to be invited to celebrate the five-year anniversary and the launch of the annual Terra Carta Roundtables and Exhibition, and at the spectacular Hampton Court Palace! Both Stephen Sykes and I had the privilege of learning from, and sharing our #Local2030Coalition, #BCorp and Liverpool successes with global CEOs and world leaders for 2 days. It will take weeks to process so many high-level debates, but the repeating themes in all formal and informal conversations included the rapidly accelerating role of nature-based solutions and biodiversity, maturing ESG (no, it's not dead - at all - the word may be less popular, but the need and process will absolutley persist) investment mechnisms at scale, and the bridges between global financial institutions and sub-national & local solutions will multiply (portfolio approaches rather than project). Most of all, NOW is the time for those with lessons and opportunties to share to be bolder and louder than ever, to pushback against those with shorter-term thinking having their moment in the limelight - but it will be only a moment. 2030hub was built from the very concept that the private sector remains central to seizing the growth story of our time by focusing on economics and building the business case for sustainability, through collaboration and city-scale engagement. On 10-11 March 2025, the SMI will be hosting the inaugural Terra Carta Roundtables & Exhibition at Hampton Court Palace in London, which will bring together CEOs, government leaders, and innovators to reflect on the progress made to date and chart a course for accelerated and ambitious delivery.
