  • Our CEO Chris Oglesby commented on the continued growth we're experiencing at Alderley Park and the subsequent expansion of the life science sector in Manchester in a recent interview with the Financial Times. “What we effectively inherited there were 2,500 scientists who weren’t going to Cambridge, many of whom wanted to set up their own businesses, and some amazing facilities,” says Chris Oglesby, Bruntwood SciTech chief executive. “What we’ve seen in parallel, given the strength of the historic clustering in Cheshire, is then the growth of the sector in Manchester.” The article, which featured a number of thought leaders and business owners across Manchester, spotlights the city’s ecosystem of universities, commerce and research in attracting investors and start-ups. And - with special mention of the upcoming completion of our Citylabs 4.0 development - the article also highlighted the partnership between Manchester and Cambridge, which complements our approach to creating an interconnected ecosystem across the UK to enable the life sciences sector to flourish here. • The UK’s innovation future is at risk - here's why ⬇️💡 The UK has the research, talent, and ambition to lead in AI, quantum computing, and life sciences, but a growing STEM skills gap threatens progress. Without a bold, long-term strategy to link funding with workforce development, we risk falling behind. At Bruntwood SciTech, we’re championing the role of the property sector in closing this gap. Our Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Kath Mackay shares how we’re working to drive real change. Read more in Dr. Kath Mackay’s feature in Forbes 🔗 https://bit.ly/4hxI4Yg

  • It was a busy day for our colleagues at MIPIM 2025 yesterday speaking on a number of panels and taking the opportunity to meet new and existing connections. Yesterday, our CEO Chris Oglesby joined panel discussions on 'Turning bright ideas into business: The power of innovation' and 'Build it and they will come: How prime office investment is reaping rewards in Manchester'. In the conversations, Chris highlighted Manchester’s unique alignment of public, private, academic, and clinical partners, driving accelerated knowledge economy growth through shared vision and rapid decision-making enabled by devolution. He reinforced our role in creating a fully connected innovation ecosystem, with projects like Sister positioning Manchester as the UK’s leading hub for science, tech, and inward investment. Our Regional Director Rob Valentine also joined leaders to discuss 'Leveraging UK Innovation: Major Investment Opportunities in the New London-Birmingham Corridor' as well as 'Delivering Property for Science and Innovation' at the London Pavillion, where he discussed our partnership with Imperial College London at White City and its support for London's official Growth Plan. Chris, Rob and our Development Director, Sam Darby, are all attending the conference this week, so make sure to catch them if you want to discuss investment, growth and interconnectedness across our regional cities.
