Enabling services, core functions, support services – whatever you call them – if you haven’t reviewed and redesigned this part of your organisation since the pandemic, you’re likely missing a trick. Our experience tells us you could be carrying up to 20% cost inefficiency. At the risk of stating the obvious, the public sector operating environment has changed a lot since 2020: remote working is a reality, AI is at our fingertips, and your own IT systems are likely to have changed or upgraded. Has your back office moved with the times? https://lnkd.in/eZCNs64g

A date for your diary 📅 How can AI & emerging tech enable a more human approach to public services? In this session, co-hosted with Outcomes Matter Consulting, we'll explore what we mean by 'emerging technology', introduce the opportunity for public sector organisations and take a deeper look into how councils in England are already transforming the way they work through the use of AI. We believe that places are powered by people, therefore we’ll be focusing on how this use of technology can enable humans to do what they do best, protecting the workforce and increasing productivity too. We’ll be joined by Emma Ockelford, Founder & CEO of Outcomes Matter, 31ten's Rahul Rana and Paul Milmore as well as Gary O'Connell, Founder of Vestega. We'll provide attendees with an introduction to AI, touch on the risks and ethics surrounding AI and emerging technology, and share some important considerations, before moving on to some practical use cases. This session will be most insightful for those leading and delivering Local Authority services – including both People and Place services. See you there! Registration link below 👇

We're delighted to have been involved with this exciting next phase of Sutton's town centre regeneration! 31ten acted as strategic and financial advisor to the procurement of a development partner for a cluster of sites in the heart of Sutton including regeneration of the St Nicholas Shopping Centre, Existing Civic Offices, Gibson Road car park and Secombe Theatre sites. The new development will provide a new Civic Hub for the Council, over 700 new homes and a reinvigorated retail and F&B offer. It was a pleasure working with the Council and advisor team to develop the procurement approach, and we look forward to continuing to support the process and playing an ongoing role in launching the partnership.
Sutton Council has today announced its preferred development partner for the next exciting phase of its town centre regeneration. The decision follows the successful recent openings of Oru Sutton and Throwley Yard, the plans for a new home on the High Street for Sutton College, as well as the construction of new council homes in the town centre. The plans for the St Nicholas Shopping Centre, Civic Offices, Gibson Road car park and Secombe Theatre sites will see a brand new Civic Hub open in the heart of the town centre, as well as a new library and community spaces. If you’re also heading to the LGA Conference this week make sure you give Joseph Dunton a wave 👋
Looking forward to attending the Local Government Association (#LGAConf24) conference down the road from me in Harrogate. It will be my first while working for 31ten Consulting and looking forward to catching up with Local Government friends old and new. We are thinking about a number of cross cutting themes affecting the sector at the moment: - temporary accommodation - the social care an marketplace - harnessing digital capabilities - making best use of assets - innovative funding models - front and back office redesign There are some pertinent and very relevant fringe events that I am looking forward to attending.

The time is now ⌚ That was one of our key takeaways from our joint roundtable with the Impact Investing Institute earlier this month. With more and more examples emerging of successful Place-Based Impact Investing (a few of which were presented at this session), the opportunity for combined and local authorities is huge. In the roundtable, we discussed how PBII can help to address local economic challenges and direct impact capital into underinvested places. We were grateful to be joined by Benjamin Davis from Octopus Investments, to provide an investor's valuable perspective on the topic too. A big thank you to Benjamin for speaking and answering questions at the session and to Laura Bridges and Mark Hall for co-hosting. To find out more about how 31ten and the Impact Investing Institute can support you in your investment journey, drop Laura a message. Sketchnote crafted by Phoebe Robinson & Lim ✨

HMICFRS finds "significant progress made" within West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service 🎉 On 8th October, His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabularies and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) published its latest inspection report of West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS). Since its previous assessment, WSFRS has made a huge step forward, now achieving a ‘good’ or ‘adequate’ in all areas, with inspectors removing any previous causes for concern. The inspection found that “significant progress had been made” in promoting the right values and culture. With 31ten’s support, a “culture of psychological safety has been developed and displayed across the service.” We are delighted to have contributed to WSFRS’s improvement journey and would like to congratulate the whole service on its efforts and commitment to creating meaningful change. You can read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/eT-qR9wt A big shoutout to the 31ten team on this for their great work: Campbell Walker, Jenny McArdle, Henry Porter, Alex Stoddart & Limi Blokland

One week on from the launch of the 'What's Next For Local Government' report, we've been overwhelmed by the feedback and support. The overarching themes of collaboration and community empowerment seem to have resonated with our clients and partners across all corners of the country. What do you make of these findings? Are you in favour of aligning funding settlements across public sector partners? Is devolution a much-needed catalyst for your local area or can change be driven in other ways? What are the barriers to making human-centred digital transformation a reality? Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eq_YERjV
