3PB Barristers criminal barrister Berenice Mulvanny represented one of two Chichester community rangers who were charged with assault and false imprisonment of a 15 year old boy in Superdrug on 22nd March 2023. This case attracted considerable media attention after a short clip of the incident was published on the internet with allegations the incident was racially motivated. Miss Mulvanny's client detained the youth after being headbutted by the youth who was trying to shoplift. Whilst waiting for the police, the two community rangers were further assaulted by another youth. The prosecution had charged both defendants with false imprisonment for detaining the youth in handcuffs whilst waiting for the police to arrive. The Jury at Portsmouth Crown Court unanimously acquitted both defendants after a 7 day trial.  For press coverage see: https://lnkd.in/dnZ-mrHf   https://lnkd.in/dnrwkkiB   https://lnkd.in/dXCNVgta To instruct Berenice Mulvanny on a criminal matter, please email her clerk Stuart Pringle on stuart.pringle@3pb.co.uk or call him on 01962 868884.

3PB is pleased to welcome Oliver Nunn to it's Property and Estates team. Oliver has joined 3PB from KCH Garden Square Chambers. Oliver specialises in real estate disputes and his busy practice covers Landlord and Tenant disputes in the private residential and social housing sectors, agricultural tenancies and commercial leases. Highly rated as a property and social housing barrister by both Chambers UK and Legal 500, Oliver has significant experience representing institutional investors such as housing associations and local authorities in property-related disputes and matters where there are public law and Equality Act arguments. As well as offering extensive experience of seeking possessions, injunctions, committals and closure orders under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014. He is also instructed in cases of forfeiture, relief and Rent Act matters. Oliver also has a niche practice advising on the purchase of horses and other animals where there are arguments of misrepresentation and breach of contract. He is often instructed in cases concerning the sale of goods, machinery, services, and also other contractual disputes which crossover into the property sphere, such as specific performance. Heavily involved in initiatives to improve equality, diversity and access at the Bar, Oliver sits on the Midland Circuit Social Mobility Committee, and regularly contributes to the Sutton Trust's Pathways to Law programme, the Future Bar Programme at DeMontfort Law School and established the Jeffers-Nunn Award at Leicester Law School. Oliver joins former KCH colleague Emma Shiels, who started as a probationary tenant with 3PB earlier this month. Speaking of his move to 3PB, Oliver said: “3PB's Property Group and its Birmingham office is well known for its excellence and for the range of talented barristers in chambers. I look forward to getting to know my colleagues and to further developing my practice at 3PB." Matthew Cannings, who heads 3PB's Property and Estates Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Oliver to 3PB. He is a great addition to our property and estates group and brings substantial experience and expertise to chambers. He has a fantastic reputation for quality advice and advocacy and for delivering a great service to clients married with a very practical and commercial outlook." https://lnkd.in/e55QnNMU
