Authentic, engaging moments in #retail design are crucial. The starting point isn’t the technology  - it's about the idea. In the new Newcastle United Football Club store the team at 442 Design were tasked with creating #WOW moments that fans would love, talk about and share with others. We wanted to create scale, impact and something personal that helped enhance the #customer journey. In the store planning we reworked the customer flow by introducing a new escalator to the rear of the store to help move customers upstairs to the main Kit Shop. An eye-catching idea was critical to help the flow on busy matchdays. On the rear wall across both floor levels we introduced a high definition digital screen which shows bespoke drone footage over St James Park and wider city views. This creates a unique cinematic birds-eye view as customers travel up the escalator. Above the escalator we had an open void beneath the ceiling – space that has no sales benefit - that we wanted to use to complete the sense of ‘Home’ and create an authentic connection with the fans. We introduced a large scale replica model of the world famous Tyne Bridge to sail overhead paying homage to the town's industrial heritage. When combined with the digital screen it creates an immersive experience that could only be in Newcastle. Memorable and personal. The combination of large format digital, great filmed content and an exceptional metalwork scale model brought that original idea to life. The escalator journey is now time well spent – and the fans love it. Washington Metalworks Lauren Cross Simon Lilley Ryan Robson Sabrina (Brie) C. The Hibernian Football Club matchday #hospitality experience is the best in the #SPL Following the successful opening the 442 Design refurbished West Stand last season, the new ‘Behind the Goals’ fan experience opened in the in the North stand on Sunday. This latest project at Easter Road has focused on GA+ aimed at core fans with seasonal or matchday upgrades available. Sporting team colours and a relaxed atmosphere ‘Behind the Goals’ sits directly behind the new safe standing area at Easter Road which generates an excellent atmosphere. ‘Behind the Goals’ has undergone a complete renovation and has two large #bars at either end of the 600 capacity room, new kitchen, prime pitch views, large LED screens and sound system throughout and is available to all season ticket holders. One of the major innovations is the new Terrace platform area – heated, padded seats complete with USB portals – with private access to bar and kitchen and fantastic pitch views. This is one of the best matchday experiences in the UK. Whilst the tone of voice is modern, stylish and unmistakably Hibernian the space is ideal for non-matchday use. The conference and event market delivers crucial added income and this space is designed with that clearly in mind. The bronze busts of each of the ‘Famous Five’ displayed the entrance reception is a very classy addition from Hibs Historical Trust. Keep your eyes open for the next phase of the North Stand development coming soon and check out Behind the Goals if you have the chance. Congratulations to all involved in delivering the project and to Ben Kensell, Garry O'Hagan and the club owners for the vision and ambition.

Senior Brand Manager at Arsenal F.C

A really exciting day as we launch our third (and final) kit ahead of the new season starting on Saturday. From launching the Year of the Cannon with our Home kit in May, celebrating the club’s connection with our African community when launching our Away kit alongside fashion house Labrum London in July, and now storytelling what makes Arsenal so original with some familiar faces in our Third kit release - this year has been one of a kind. A special thank you to our friends at adidas for their continued partnership to bring these moments to life, our agency partners for their creativity and dedication to tell these stories along with the unbelievable talent across the club that put so much effort into getting these right for our supporters. The new season brings a slightly different role for me as I start as Senior Brand and Partnerships Manager with a lot of fun projects in the pipeline.. 🙏 Weirdo | 442 Design | The Midnight Club | The Elephant Room | Homeground | Arsenal Creative Studio 🤝 Carmela Vitale | Tom Braithwaite | Ryan Whelan | Kara Ellwood

The new AC Milan 442 Design flagship store on Via Dante in downtown Milan has delivered outstanding results in its first few weeks of trading. Ahead of Serie A kicking off in a couple of weeks' time these very positive results reinforce the store's positioning as a #flagship for the brand to a wider international audience. As Milan heaves with visitors the Via Dante store talks to customers of all ages as the premier club in the city. The store #design is fashion led with strong storytelling and store exclusives at its core. Digital interaction is important both in terms of store atmosphere but also in transaction time - the touchscreen shirt printing works very well. As the football season starts and the match weekend audiences return the #store is very well positioned to further improve results. Look out for a couple of stunning collaboration drops coming in September. Valerio Rocchetti Henrik Gulden Matteo Maffè

Football is fashion - a new approach to #football #retail Its been an immense pleasure for 442 Design to work with AC Milan on their new flagship store on Via Dante, Milan The #design approach was closely aligned to the club’s commercial strategy to move away from a typical football sports store and towards building an international fashion brand with the club ethos, heritage and authenticity at its core.  The result is a two-storey experiential store that blends boutique with football – fashion meets football – the proud heritage of AC Milan showcased in a premium environment ·      Off-white colour to walls and floors allows the classic Red and Black to ‘pop’, celebrating the Rossoneri. The store presents the heroic Milan kit, exclusive collaborations and emotive ‘discoveries’ all along the customer journey through high impact digital display to retro imagery and storylines. ·      A 15 metre long high-level digital ribbon above a fully digital floor area creates an immersive 360 degree, ever-changing fan experience set to a dramatic soundscape. ·      Clear shopping zones encourage dwell time in store. From the Authentic Kit area to  dedicated Kids, Headwear and Retro – there’s something for all fans of all ages. ·      The Print Lab zone for product personalisation is a highlight on the upper level ·      Details including Duomo-inspired coving and architectural arches anchor the store in its Milan city centre location and offer a modern take on the classic. ·      The famous San Siro stadium inspires display fixtures and integrated references to Storzesco Castle add a point of difference and sense of place. ·      The Milan Metro is referenced in the classic red curved handrail and wayfinding which runs up the Legends staircase helping customers on their journey. ·      Artwork created from a private collection of historic matchday tickets appears as a feature wallcovering around the central lift area – a true fan archive. ·      The European Cup display  - celebrating AC Milan 7 times winners of the trophy – offers in-store photo opportunity and is also visible in the upper window from outside on Via Dante. ·      Each Fitting room has different graphic treatment reflecting club heritage and player Legends complete with real seats from Curva Sud, San Siro. This store is truly From Milan to the World. Well done to all involved in the project delivery – a great team approach gets results and the site meetings will live long in the memory. Overall, it was a pleasure to work with the exceptional, dedicated Retail team @Henrik Gulden and Matteo Maffè Alessandro Luigi Farina under the astute direction and guidance of Valerio Rocchetti who is delivering strong retail growth and memorable brand experiences.
