  • We are deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of former First Minister Alex Salmond. Jean Morrison, Chair of AREG, shared her thoughts: "We are saddened to learn of the sudden death of former First Minister Alex Salmond. He was an early supporter of the transition to renewable energy and delivered a keynote address at All Energy when AREG held the conference in Aberdeen, where he enjoyed meeting and speaking with innovative supply chain companies helping to develop out the industry at home. He was a passionate leader and supportive voice on the need to scale renewable energy in Scotland and take advantage of our natural assets, which helped shape the sector. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time." Alex Salmond’s vision and support of renewable energy will be remembered as a lasting contribution to the progress Scotland has made in this important sector.
