Fantastic to see our Senior Sustainability Manager, Graham Moxon featured in the latest issue of Tomorrow’s Cleaning—shining a light on the vital role our industry plays in making spaces not only safe, clean, and efficient—but also sustainable. At ABM, we believe that the responsible management of the built environment can be transformative in reducing our impact on the natural world. As well as the biggest challenges the FM industry faces on the journey to responsible business, Graham discusses the increasing demand from customers to collaborate on the broader sustainability picture; including areas such as social value rather than just carbon management. Last week we were proud to celebrate ABM’s Gold Award at the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards 2024. Campbell Murdoch and Justine Salmon FInstLM attended the ceremony at the Honourable Artillery Company on behalf of the full ABM team. Achieving the Gold Award is a significant milestone, symbolising our ongoing support of the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment. To be awarded a gold recognition, organisations must provide 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists, and have supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. Justine Salmon, Business Support Manager and Chair of ABM’s Armed Forces Working Group commented: "Achieving gold certification in recognition of our dedication to the Armed Forces Covenant is a milestone we are incredibly proud of. Having achieved the top accolade, the work is not over. We will be continuing to maintain the gold standard and surpass expectations by driving awareness and understanding of the unique challenges faced by service personnel.” Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London attended the event as the keynote speaker and awarded the organisations along with representation from the tri-service: AVM Ranald Munro CB CBE TD VR DL (Commandant General of the RAuxAF and Chair of Greater London RFCA), Captain Paul Hill RD RNR (Assistant Head Reserves, UK Strategic Command and Chair of City RFCA) and Lieutenant Colonel Darren Johnston (SO1 Engagement at the London District HQ). This month, we’re thrilled to recognise Leah Thomason and Joceline Monteiro for their dedication and growth within ABM through our Apprenticeship Scheme, where they’ve both recently completed their CIPD Level 3 qualifications. Leah joined us in April 2022 as part of the Administration Team at Manchester Airport. With a passion for HR, she embarked on the apprenticeship programme just over 18 months ago to make a career transition. Her journey reflects her drive to grow and adapt within ABM. Joceline has been a valued team member at ABM for five years, continuously taking on new challenges and roles. Two years ago, with ABM’s support, she set her sights on a HR apprenticeship to expand her skills and pursue even more opportunities. Today, her new qualification equips her to confidently help us create more value for both our teams and clients.

At ABM, we are committed to creating positive interactions at every passenger touchpoint in the airport; from carpark to the boarding gate. This includes: ➡ Keeping high-volume airports clean and safe ➡ Ground handling services ➡ Supporting passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) However, to deliver service consistency across the entire airport operation, collaboration is key. When all aviation stakeholders work together, the passenger experience is enhanced, which defines success in the aviation industry. As ABM prepares to launch a UK-wide Quality Assurance Programme for its Assisted Travel services, focused on auditing trainers and evaluating the effectiveness of materials, collaboration will be more critical than ever. By aligning our efforts and sharing best practices, we can ensure that training standards remain high and consistent across the board.

ABM's Junior Engineering Engagement Programme (J.E.E.P) is a social mobility programme aimed at introducing young people to the opportunities which a career in the FM sector offers. Since its launch, and in partnership with The Talent Foundry, the programme has reached 722 students, the majority of whom are girls, and all of whom attend schools in areas of high deprivation. We are proud to support young people and help to: ➡ increase their awareness and understanding of STEM careers ➡ open up opportunities to them in the facilities management sector ➡ foster confidence in their essential and workplace skills ➡ increase their awareness of apprenticeships Here's what our past volunteers, students and teachers have said. #Apprenticeships #STEM #STEMCareers

And that's a wrap! Over the past few weeks, our senior leadership team has visited five cities, connecting with hundreds of team members and engaging them in ABM's strategic growth plan. Along the way, we proudly presented 45 awards to recognise the outstanding achievements of our people. This tour is just the beginning, leading up to our highly anticipated annual One ABM Conference next month—an exciting event on the ABM UK&I calendar. A huge thank you to everyone at ABM who helped organise these events, and a special thanks to all of you — our dedicated team members — for your hard work and commitment to making a difference.

This week, Donna Platt from our AVI team joined the world’s first Global Disability ERG/Network Summit. The summit was launched by PurpleSpace, a professional development hub for disability network leaders. ABM is a Founding Strategic Partner of PurpleSpace, committed to creating inclusive and safe spaces for its team members and for its clients’ staff and customers. One of the initiatives ABM has introduced is a Pan-Disability Team Member Forum, where its network of disabled team members work alongside identified champions across the business. The Summit highlighted that businesses and role models need to drive empowerment to make inclusivity impactful both in the workplace and for customers. At ABM, we are committed to creating safe spaces and groups for our team members to share experiences, which also helps us to gain a greater understanding of the needs of our PRM guests and passengers who have similar disabilities. Well done to everyone involved in hosting such a fantastic event and thank you to all of the speakers. #PRM #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityAtWork #PurpleSpaceSummit
