Celebrating United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Flag Day. In our Jersey office, we proudly raised the flag for UN’s Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reaffirming our commitment to shared goals focused on climate action, gender quality, biodiversity, and decent work. With just 6 years remaining until #2030 Agenda, Accuro continues to drive progress on the most pressing SDGs issues. Following a comprehensive double materiality assessment carried out earlier this year by our executive team, Accuro committed itself to a core set of goals (SDG’s 4, 8, 16 and 17). Recently Paragon+Impact completed a grading of our performance against such core goals and the remainder of the SDGs. This independent assessment highlighted where meaningful positive impact has already been made. It has also given us the impetus to continually strive to improve our performances which will continue to be measured. UN’s SGDs remain critical and it’s so inspiring to be part of this collected action for a more sustainable and fairer world. Thank you to Paul Douglas and Verena Roberts of Accuro Trust (Jersey) Limited for sharing a fantastic article titled The Evolution of Trust. It explores the interpretation of a trustee acting in the “best interests” of the beneficiaries of the trust. Should this be the based on the traditional view of maximising financial benefit, or in light of the growing existential risks across society, such as the climate emergency and biodiversity collapse, together with trusts typically being set up with a long term view, should the interpretation be wider and not purely financial to match the evolved needs and expectations of the next generations, particularly when the most important drivers for the majority of settlors is to create a stable future for their children?
