Today's #SocialValueReport24, which has been published by Sport England, demonstrates that inequalities in activity levels are a social and economic burden but if we protect and invest in sport and physical activity, particularly for people that face barriers to taking part, we'll all be healthier, wealthier, and happier. As Professor Chris Witty, the Chief Medical Officer for England, states: "This reports shows that we need to make it easier for particular groups to engage in physical activity including sport." This is a key focus for the #ActivePartnerships network as we understand the local barriers and work collaboratively with partners to break them down, helping everyone to move more. JU:MP is promoting it's JU:MP Outdoors campaign as children and families in the Bradford District prepare for the half term break. JU:MP Outdoors is a campaign which specifically seeks to encourage outdoor play, no matter the weather and it is more important than ever to help support and encourage our Bradford families and children to move and play more! We were delighted to attend the British Triathlon Regional Managers' meeting last week at Loughborough University. Sam Bacon, our Strategic Director for Physical Activity, was invited by Cathy Brown to speak and share the journey of JU:MP including the challenges we have faced and the successes we've achieved along the way. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on our work and discuss how Active Bradford can collaborate with British Triathlon Federation in the future to promote physical activity in #Bradford. Our new report shows there is strong and consistent evidence that sport and physical activity interventions had positive effects on the diagnosed mental health problems of children and young people. Produced by Edge Hill University, it painted a consistent picture of the effectiveness of different types of exercise in treating and managing young people’s mental health conditions.
