A trip back to Sheffield Hallam University today thanks to Jane Tattersall inviting me along with 4 other Alumni to sit on a panel to discuss the value of events management education. This formed part of a two day conference for AEME (Association for Events Management Education) and it's fantastic to see this come to Sheffield, bring other academics to our city, showcasing what we have to offer but more importantly talking about opportunities for our students. I'm very proud to be an Events Management Alumni, and it was brilliant to hear from Sam Hodkin, Lydia Galbraith, Lee Hird and Frankie Astle about their experiences and careers since graduating. I could write a whole paper on this, however it's important to note that Events Management is definitely not a Mickey Mouse degree. Those that graduate with events are a different breed. We have hunger, passion and drive to succeed. The course itself sets you up for handling the tough stuff in the big world, and it's not just the couse but the whole university experience that gives you the skills to make you employable in the future*. *I'm not saying this relates to everyone!
