We launched something momentous this week at GEI15. After 17 years, A Greener Festival begins a new life as A Greener Future. Our new visual identity is built on our values: a bold, unapologetic expression for a greener future. As a not-for-profit, we’ve spent nearly two decades pouring all we have into the sustainability of the live sector. We have always been about real action that raises the bar, with continuous improvements. Quality over quantity. In our new incarnation, we broaden horizons and raise ambition to do the important work of bringing the whole events, music, entertainment, and sports ecosystem into more sustainable structures and ways of operating. We began with the festival sector and over the years now work with the whole events and live ecosystem for instance with the Greener Arena, Greener Tour and Greener Supplier branches and within sports, hospitality and ceremonial events as well as music. Our story reflects the evolution of sustainability in the events and entertainment sector and in society at large. It’s no longer a niche, it’s an all-encompassing direction of travel where all the pieces are starting to fit together for a greener future for us all. Keep an eye out over the next few weeks as we complete our evolution! #AGF #agreenerfuture #agreenerfestival #sustainability #evolution
About us
Previously A Greener Festival. A not-for-profit company committed to helping events, tours, venues and festivals around the world to be greener. Founders of the worlds first green event standards - the AGF Awards. We provide information, education resources and facilitate the exchange of good ideas. We consult with organisations and events of all scales from Roskilde Festival, BST Hyde Park, AEG, The Queens Platinum Jubilee, RHS, Royal Parks, The O2 Arena, Wembley Arena, to small grassroots organisations. All of our activities are to create a greener live events ecosystem globally. Since 2007, our ‘AGF Certification’ scheme has assessed over 1000 events and venues worldwide; it has been instrumental in helping organisations to adapt or refine their actions, improving resource efficiency and environmental impact. Following the original Greener Festival Award, in 2017 we launched the "Greener Event Award" and since the "Greener Arena Certification" and "Greener Tour Certification" which now works with Conferences, Trade Fairs, Sports Events, Arenas, Venues, Ceremonies and more. Why Apply for certification? Aside from the publicity gained from being part of the AGF certification scheme, the process ensures that events complete an Environmental Impact Assessment to understand, set targets, monitor and improve environmental performance. This is beneficial not only for our environment and the industry as a whole but also sets events at a competitive advantage to those who don’t grasp this vital knowledge.

A Greener Future reposted this
More good news… The net zero sector is growing three times faster than the overall UK economy, providing higher than average wage jobs across the country, and cutting climate-heating emissions, and increasing energy security. The net zero economy grew by 10% in 2024 and generated £83bn in gross value added (GVA), a measure of how much value companies add through the goods and services they produce. The analysis, by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), found 22,000 net zero businesses, from renewable energy to green finance, employ almost a million people in full-time jobs. The average annual wage – £43,000 – was £5,600 higher than the national average. The analysis showed economic growth and climate action go together”, https://lnkd.in/ebyT8r_i Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) #netzero #greeneconomy A Greener Future #energysector #greenfinance #CBI

Great to see GEI17 - Green Events & Innovations Conference highlights and reflections from the last few days! 🌱✨ A huge thank you to Ecotricity for supporting #GEI17 and for joining the conversation on building a greener future for live events. Ecotricity's founder, Dale Vince, took part in some key discussions, including Food & Drinks: Impacts & Emotions – The Cow In The Room, Act 1.5 & Beyond, and Power: Ending the Fossil Fuel Era. From plant-based food to rethinking energy in live events, these sessions addressed some of the biggest challenges and opportunities for the industry. 🌍 For a full summary and highlights from the conference, check out our blog post: https://lnkd.in/d-ifBcAR
Energising scenes from the GEI conference last week in London. Last year, our collaboration with A Greener Future on the Grid Faeries batteries took a huge step toward decarbonising live events – and we’re not stopping there. This year, we’re expanding our impact with the Live Events Energy Scheme (LEES) basket, launched in partnership with LIVE (Live music Industry Venues and Entertainment) and the Music Venues Trust. By uniting venues of all sizes, LEES unlocks lower energy rates typically reserved for larger consumers, driving true industry-wide sustainability. Our discussions went beyond energy too. Our founder, Dale Vince, joined panels that explored the future of plant-based food in events, reinforcing our commitment to healthier, greener practices. And the Act 1.5 panel highlighted how cutting-edge innovations are setting the pace for a fossil-free live events sector. And to top it all off, our Forest Green Rovers Football Club's Stadium – The New Lawn – was honoured with the International Greener Arena Award, demonstrating leadership in sustainable event spaces for sports – with special recognition to Skydiamond, proud sponsors of the International AGF Awards.

Welcome to AGF Insider, our monthly series where we catch up with industry leaders in the sustainability world to find the current trends and best practices. 🌍💡 This month, we feature Akos Dominus, Sustainability Manager at Sziget Cultural Management Ltd. Ákos shares his insights on the best practices, emerging trends, and obstacles in sustainability within the events industry. “The other problem is more of a political concern: Hungary has had a far right-wing Government for 14 years, and there is very little support for climate change and climate intervention. The political environment is not supportive of issues such as climate change. However, within our Sziget Szitizen community, we have an environment where we can stand up for our shared values and create our society, so we are optimistic." 🔍 Read the full interview with Ákos Dominus here: https://lnkd.in/dmvwpbvk Stay tuned for more expert insights every month!
