AgriLeader Forum 2025: that’s a wrap! 🚀 What an incredible couple of days - farmers came together, stepped out of their comfort zones, and learned from renowned experts outside the industry on how shifting their mindset can drive real change on their farm. Here are some of the game-changing lessons shared: ⌛Small habits = big impact – Kat Thorne reminded us that just 10 minutes a day doing something positive can transform you and your whole team. ⚽Bring people on the journey – Gemma Krasucka from Leicester City FC shared powerful insights on followership, asking the right questions, and leading with impact. Leadership isn’t just about where you’re going—it’s about who’s coming with you. 🥅Performance is contagious – Anna Mosley challenged us to rethink failure. 100% effort isn’t sustainable—80% is often the sweet spot. Ask yourself: ❓ Does everyone on your farm know the end goal? ❓Are you creating opportunities for others to step up? ❓What’s your degree of allowed failure? The feedback following the conference has been overwhelmingly positive, and we can’t wait to see these new habits and leadership strategies put into action on farm. Inspiring our farmers, growers and industry to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
About us
The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is a statutory levy board, funded by farmers, growers and others in the supply chain to help the industry succeed in a rapidly changing world. We want to create a world-class food and farming industry, inspired by and competing with the best. Our purpose is to make our agriculture and horticulture industries more competitive and sustainable through factual, evidence-based advice, information and activity: • We manage extensive research and development programmes which are delivering scientifically robust and commercially useful outcomes for our levy payers • We undertake efficient farm-level knowledge transfer programmes based on evidence, both from third-party science and our own R&D, aimed at improving efficiency, productivity and sustainability • We provide unbiased, high-quality market information that helps business decision making and improves supply chain transparency • We carry out export market development work and also domestic marketing activity to inspire and inform consumers in order to assist the economic viability of sectors which require this • We raise awareness of food and where it comes from among school children and we help ensure the agriculture and horticulture industries are able to develop and attract workers with the skills they need • We also ensure that proper account is taken of Government priorities for agriculture and the agri-food industry, where appropriate.

🤔 Ever thought about what's meant by ‘fairness’ in the food supply chain? It's a subjective concept and one that's often confused with ‘support’. 🎧📱💻 Catch more of the discussion on the latest episode of AHDB's Agonomics podcast here: https://ow.ly/PVse50ULInl

AHDB Talking Leaders Series: Pushing Limits, Finding Balance: Mental Fitness with Sheena Horner. We know how important it is to be inspired by both big businesses and individuals, which is why we are excited to present Talking Leaders, a monthly initiative from the AHDB which will see a series of inspirational speakers share their life experiences and deliver impactful stories to the AgriLeader community. In the January edition of AHDB Talking Leaders, we are excited to explore the topic of “Mental Fitness” with Sheena Horner, delving into how to Push Limits while Finding Balance. Co-hosted with Mark Campbell of the AHDB & Max MacGillivray of Beanstalk.Global. Sheena diversified into chilli farming and through that business she developed a growing network of food and drink businesses throughout Scotland. It is through the chilli growing business that Sheena developed a growing network of food and drink businesses throughout Scotland. These skills are currently being used in her role as the regional food and drink coordinator in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Manager of the Farming Community Network. Sheena founded #Run1000, a fundraising event held in January highlighting the positive effects that both running and walking have on your mental as well as physical health while raising funds for rural mental health charities. She is a director of the Oxford Farming Conference, the vice-chair of The Crichton Trust board, a trustee of The Solway Firth Partnership, a graduate of the Scottish Enterprise Rural Leadership Programme and a member of the Dumfries and Galloway Local Employability and Skills Partnership. Sheena shares her insights on how to effectively navigate the New Year, with a particular focus on “Blue Monday” — the third Monday in January, often considered the most depressing day of the year and linked to the January Blues. She explores Mental Fitness, offering strategies to push limits while maintaining balance during this challenging month. Dial in!
