Yesterday AKD Solutions delivered our first Sports Breakfast Meeting in the “Architects of the Future” series. This themed morning was all about getting big thinkers solving big problems in the sports and physical activity space. I have to give huge thanks to our presenters on the day, Hugh Brasher, Orlene Badu and Geoff Thompson MBE FRSA DL QP JM Thompson, each of whom gave their genuine, authentic, and heartfelt delivery in this space, bringing the room together and stimulating deep and serious thinking about how we collectively have a role to be brave and make change for the better. I also want to thank the people who braved some stormy weather to make it to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where we held the event, and the AKD team. Without you all this wouldn’t have happened. The AKD sports division are the new kids on the block but have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience through our associates who work with our clients. This breakfast meeting was a success, and we will deliver similar events over the next coming year across the UK. We were back at Headingley Stadium on Tuesday for day two of Lead the Change - our initiative to support more ethnically diverse people to have the confidence to take on leadership roles in sport and physical activity. Delivered by Phil Newman from consortium partners AKD Solutions, the day provided an opportunity for everyone to speak about their lived experience and identify what type of development they will benefit from. Prioritising Desire Over Data: A Call to Action for Housing Associations Last year, I made a pivotal decision: to prioritise desire over data. Rather than focusing solely on what works or generates immediate profits, we chose to invest our time and energy into what we truly believe in. Entrepreneurship has always been my passion the mix of risk and faith fuels me. It’s a journey of learning, setbacks, and growth. But beyond the wins, it’s also about resilience, especially when facing failure. In 2012, I hit rock bottom. I lost my business, my house, and people I once called friends. I remember standing in line at the housing office with my wife and children, experiencing one of the most devastating moments of my life. What I needed was compassion, grace, and empathy but I found none. That experience left a lasting mark. So when Yorkshire Housing approached us last year with their mission to become customer obsessed, I knew we had to be part of it. Their commitment to transformation resonated deeply, and we set out to help them create real, lasting change. This year, we’re taking that mission further.
