Not your bog-standard recruitment firm.

About us

Let's start the "who we are" chat with the basics, shall we? Founded in 2011, we're a recruitment firm offering a full range of professional recruitment services. These span the Legal, HR, TMT, Sales & Marketing, Engineering & Manufacturing, Biotech and Executive Support sectors. At Alexander Lyons Solutions, we do it all - without scrimping on our dedicated in-house recruitment ethos. If you're working with us on hiring for your team, starting your career, or applying for your dream job, you can rest easy - it's all about you. So how did we get started? Legal consultancy! It all started when Alex Dick cottoned on to something many others took a few (to ten) years longer to notice: how legal consultancy and its remote working model is so much better for legal professionals looking for a true work/life balance (and the pay to go with it!). As it turns out, lawyers love legal consultancy in practice just as much as they do in theory. The rest, as they say, is history! Over the past eleven years, we've cemented ourselves as leaders in the consultancy market and expanded our reach by bringing on experienced experts in their respective fields to head up desks in their own specialisms. So if you're getting in touch with our recruiters, what can you expect? We put the focus on your needs - on getting the right person in the right job, not just putting bums in seats. We're friendly and we tell it like it is - so if you're looking for the same old recruitment jargon, you might want to look elsewhere. We source on both temporary and permanent bases. Whatever you're looking for, we'll be here to help make it happen. Like it says above, we're not your bog-standard recruitment firm. Come say hi - drop us a message, give us a call, check out our site, or click the button to get in touch today.

As we gear up for the Recruitment Agency Expo in Birmingham this week, 2024, we’re reflecting on our experiences from the last event in March. We had the opportunity to chat with several people about “What piece of work advice would you give to your younger self?” 1️⃣ Help each other and be kind. A supportive work environment makes all the difference. 2️⃣ Don’t procrastinate! Get your work done ahead of time and keep a list to stay organised. 3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Confidence in your abilities is key. 4️⃣ Be open about your journey. You don’t need all the answers—sharing experiences can be just as valuable. 5️⃣ Seize every learning opportunity. Growth comes from embracing new experiences. If you’re attending the expo, look out for us and the camera - and come and say hi!! #RecruitmentExpo #Birmingham2024 #CareerAdvice #SupportEachOther #LearningOpportunities

Probably the weirdest CEO of a recruitment empire (watch this space) @Alexander Lyons Solutions

As we prepare for the Recruitment Agency Expo in Birmingham next week, we're taking a moment to look back at the great conversations we had during the last event in March! In one of our favorite snippets, we asked attendees: "What piece of work advice would you give to your younger self?" Here's what they shared: "Just apply for the job!" "Experiment with different sized companies." "Nothing is as hard as it seems." "Don't give up too easily." "If it makes you nervous, it's probably worth it." "Ignore that nagging voice of doubt." If you're attending the expo, look out for us and come and say hi!! #RecruitmentExpo #Birmingham2024 #CareerGrowth #EmbraceTheChallenge #AdviceToMyYoungerSelf

We’re looking forward to attending the Recruitment Agency Expo next week with Alex Dick, Sasha Lobosco & Alicia Keen 🎉 Reflecting on our last experience in March, we interviewed a variety of people, asking them an important question: “What piece of work advice would you give to your younger self?” And here's what they had to say... 1️⃣ Don’t prioritise work over personal life. Maintaining balance is key. 2️⃣ Ask for help when you need it. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. 3️⃣ Focus on one thing at a time. Building your skillset takes time, and that’s okay. 4️⃣ Trust your instincts. Your gut feeling often knows best. 5️⃣ Always keep learning. Lifelong learning is essential for growth. If you’re attending the expo, come say hi! #RecruitmentExpo #CareerAdvice #WorkLifeBalance

Signs of a toxic workplace. 1️⃣ Constant overwork. Always being given more and more work. If you leave on time and your work isn't completely done because you've got so much, you're almost belittled and berated for it, expect it to come in early, leave late, get everything done... 2️⃣ Lack of respect in the workplace. So that can be lack of respect between colleagues. People taking advantage of people's goodwill. People plagiarising other people's work. Any of those things or behaviour. 3️⃣ No work-life balance. Businesses that expect people to work all hours, expect them to go above and beyond at all times despite never giving people credit for that. And if you're not doing that and you're doing what you're paid to do, they treat you like you're some sort of pariah who doesn't care. 4️⃣ High turnover of stuff. They can't keep anyone there, people come, people see what it's like, people go. Never a good sign. There's just a generally negative atmosphere. You walk in somewhere and it feels like there's this dark cloud over everyone. Nobody smiles, nobody talks to each other, nobody wants to do anything with each other. #toxicworkplace #toxicculture #toxicboss

Kate O'Neill isn't hanging about when it comes to telling a toxic manager that they're being a d*ck! 1️⃣ Don't be afraid to pull them up on their behaviour 2️⃣ Leave... You don't need or have to be there. You deserve better. Great interviews at the Recruitment Agency Expo! Looking forward to returning next week 👀 Who's going to be there? Imagine if this is what your working day looked like... Sun, humous, chips and beer - not too shabby aye! We are 100% remote working through and through here at ALS. And we don't say remote but really mean hybrid and in the office 4 days a week... We also work from anywhere. And no, before you ask that doesn't limit you to your local cafe down the road... We mean anywhere 🌍 And the end of the day we're a business, not an adult daycare centre! #remoteworking #flexible #workfromanywhere

Building a remote culture is considered difficult... Here are our top tips to ensure you've got a good culture in a remote-first business: 1️⃣ Communication. Communicate the business's aims and what you want the business to be from the get -go. Make people understand their role within it, make them feel valued and a part of it. All of those things will help you build a culture. 2️⃣ Also, try and protect it. Don't keep people who are particularly toxic in it. 3️⃣ Give people the opportunity to communicate and be part of things together and do things together. All of those things will make people feel like they're part of something and become passionate about it because they'll understand the journey that they're part of and what they want to achieve rather than just leaving people to exist in the background.   And that's the biggest mistake businesses make. Leave people to just exist and flap around in the background with no communication and nothing and then expect them to feel part of something. You've got to work at it and you've got to make sure that your team wants to be part of something and feel valued. Remote employees, I'm keen to hear your views on what your companies are doing to make you feel part of something and get their culture across to you... #remote #culture #recruitment
