Founded in 2011, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) is a cross-party group made up of members from both Houses of Parliament, and acts as the event industry’s voice in Westminster. The APPG for Events provides a forum for the highly diverse and valuable UK events sector in Parliament, engaging with representatives from across the political spectrum. The APPG plays a key role in keeping the events industry high on the Parliamentary agenda. Its formal purpose is to: - Represent the UK events industry in Parliament - Highlight the value of the industry to the UK economy and society - Engage with politicians and industry representatives - Ensure that the UK remains a competitive and leading destination for major international events The All Party Parliamentary Group is managed by The Business of Events, an independent Think Tank and Advocacy Network for the UK events sector.

Very pleased to announce that the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards has today confirmed the reformation of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, which will now be added to the official register of APPG’s in Parliament. Key outcomes from the meeting include: Shaun Davies, MP for Telford (Labour), was formally elected as Chair. Officers Elected: Jack Rankin, MP for Windsor (Conservative) David Baines, MP for St Helens North (Labour) Gill German, MP for Clwyd North (Labour) In addition, Davies Tanner, through its The Business of Events Think Tank and Advocacy Network, has been confirmed as the Official Secretariat and Special Advisors to the APPG. Following an inaugural meeting today in Parliament, the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events was formally reconstituted, with Shaun Davies, Member of Parliament for Telford, being elected as Chair. We will now submit the necessary paperwork to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, and begin planning the activities of the new APPG, which will focus on helping to grow the UK event economy.
