An inspiring visit to Alpha (RSL) Ltd on Merseyside yesterday as part of Starts at Home Day, alongside colleagues from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Wirral Council. We spent the morning speaking with residents at Poppyfields, an extra care scheme on the Wirral. Poppyfields is a modern extra care scheme consisting of 78 independent flats. It puts independence with care, support, aging with dignity and creating a home for life at the heart of its community. Great to hear from residents about the friendships they've found living there. Alpha is just one example of the great work housing associations are doing to support vulnerable and older adults to live independent lives. There's an opportunity for government to put funding for supported housing on a stable footing at the forthcoming Budget.
