This week I have had my privileges, this one though was the highlight of my week. Lots of laughs, yes during Mental Health First Aid Training, and there were also some serious stuff to unpack - has to be done. Congratulations to the Team Ammonite Studios , Genna Hill Epernay Norman and Amy Stafford loved every minute of training with you all. At the end of the course it was really interesting to hear how the training had landed for the delegates, and what key action plans they will implement going forward … which went like this ; 💚Be persistent 💚Listen - the power of silience 💚Show empathy 💚Don’t give personal opinions 💚Be warm, but be direct 💚Small talk , can help to open up a conversation 💚Our Window to the world - it’s different for everyone 💚Confident with more signposting 💚The importance of boundaries for the MHFAider 💚The impact of judgment In life there are blind spots, and we don’t know everything, and until we step into the arena of a subject or conversation we aren’t going to know how to support unless we empower ourselves with information. Where mental health training is concerned ; awareness encourages you to avoid those blind spots, gives confidence and tools towards those normal thoughts of ‘will what I say impact / tip someone’ to have better conversations … On the subject of conversation, Recently Simon Sinek in his video on YouTube called ‘It means “I need you”’: The Power of 8 Munites… highlighted just this, that it takes 8 minutes to step out of a meeting to have a conversation to get a colleague back on track when then are struggling. Powerful right. Remember, ‘asking’ what someone means when sharing something , and in somecases those who share very little, can bring a conversation of more awareness and knowledge to us where we can support further when people are struggling … I really have been witness to seeing that those who have difficult conversations around mental health increases the dynamic in the workplace, in a positive way; it fosters a happier and healthier work force, which I believe is the bottom line for a team in business #connection ♥️ #mentalhealth #wellbeing # Have a great Friday. And as ever, here if you need anything ✨💚 Matthew Holman Mandy Toon Laura Williams

"The college [Royal College of Music] decided to replicate the experience of live performance, and the Performance Lab was born." -Live Design Magazine Working alongside our long-term collaborators at FRAY Studio as well as Carolyn Downing, Daniel Orchard, and G2 Digital Video, we looked at creating a solution to simulate real and heightened performance experiences under pressure. From recreating the acoustics of iconic venues to designing disruptive audience scenarios, we aimed to give students the most authentic experience possible. This groundbreaking space equips future musicians to thrive under real performance pressure. Read the Live Design Magazine article here: https://lnkd.in/e3afpUrK

Rob Casey and the team at Ammonite Studios are the lighting designers behind the much-anticipated UK & Ireland tour of the acclaimed National Theatre production, War Horse, which kicks off this Thursday in Wimbledon. This iconic show is celebrated for its stirring music, imaginative staging, and of course, its life-sized horse puppets. It has some exciting new elements this time around. Did you catch the original War Horse production nearly 20 years ago?

A topic discussed at Soho Green Rooms that ended with varied opinions was the use of VR headsets in live performances. Whether VR has truly enhanced and transformed how we experience concerts and theatre is still up for debate. One could argue that at a concert, it could give you the best seat in the house—or even place you on the stage itself, standing alongside your favourite performers. VR has the potential to bring incredible levels of immersion and personalisation to live entertainment. However, with this potential come challenges: preserving the communal aspect of live events, ensuring accessibility, and maintaining the unique energy that only a live audience can bring. We’re curious—how do you see VR headsets shaping the future of live performances? Do you think they could enhance the experience, or are there certain irreplaceable elements of live shows that VR might never capture? #VirtualReality #Innovation #FutureOfEntertainment #SohoGreenRooms

The Paris 2024 Olympics is making history with an electric flame, sparking debate among fans and traditionalists. While the innovation aims for sustainability and a modern touch, some question if it captures the true essence of the Olympic flame. What do you think? Does the electric flame embody the spirit of the Games, or is the traditional flame irreplaceable?
