The Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group has put together a video detailing a timeline of the progress of its work, from its official establishment by the founding partners in 2019, through to the securing of £18.27m of funding from the UK Research and Innovation Strength in Places Fund (SIPF), all the way through to the present day - including the founding of The AMRICC Centre. The numbers are quite astonishing. We have so far engaged with 11 government bodies, 25 catapults and networks, 26 universities and schools, and 44 individual companies - and we're not stopping here. If you'd like to arrange a visit of The AMRICC Centre first-hand, we're continuing our series of Open Days, offering guided tours of our brand-new facilities. Interested in seeing us in person? Lucideon is exhibiting at Ceramic Japan this week, one of seven concurrent trade shows forming the prestigious Highly-Functional Material Week held this year at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan and co-hosted by our friends at the Japan Fine Ceramics Association (JFCA). As Japan’s largest fine ceramics show, it is one of the world’s leading major ceramics trade fairs and has been running since 2016. Ceramic Japan focuses on all aspects of high-performance ceramics, from coatings, powder technology, manufacturing, and processing. Running the Lucideon exhibition this year are Carolyn Grimley and Richard White, supported by David Syrad and joined by AMRICC Business Development Manager Ed Maynard. Our exhibition follows our newly acquired membership of the JFCA, which is committed to driving economic and technical growth within the advanced and engineering ceramics industry in Japan, and our opening of additional offices in Osaka and Haneda Innovation Park to access the nation’s high-value advanced ceramics market. Huge congratulations to Ethan Ellis and Connor Ayre for their performance at the Staffordshire & Derbyshire Future of Work conference earlier this week, speaking about how their apprenticeship journeys have progressed in a fireside chat-style interview conducted by Lucideon's Victoria Warren. Ethan and Connor are fantastic ambassadors for apprenticeship careers, speaking eloquently and engagingly about the possibilities offered through apprenticeship and playing a huge role in a well-organised and successful event. We're absolutely over the moon that our very first apprentice, Katie Hadley, has won the Rising Star award for the West Midlands at the Apprenticeships and Skills Awards 2024! Anybody who has worked with her in The AMRICC Centre would agree that this is a well-earned recognition of the incredible work that Katie performs, day in and day out, across a varied and challenging range of tasks and responsibilities. As the winner of a regional award, Katie is now in the running for the National award, which will be presented at a ceremony in London on November 27th. Today was another massive milestone for us, as this morning's quarterly meeting of the Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group marked the third anniversary of the successful bid that helped to facilitate the establishment of The AMRICC Centre here at our site in Stone, Staffordshire. The AMRICC Centre is one of the key outputs of the MICG's SIPF programme, and is open for showcase viewings that demonstrate how the funding we received is being used to accelerate innovation around existing and novel materials and product development. In October 2021, MICG secured £18.27 million of government funding, provided through UK Research and Innovation’s flagship Strength in Places Fund (SIPF). Today, we’re at the University of Birmingham for the quarterly meeting, celebrating the 3rd anniversary.    It’s been an inspiring morning, with presentations from all workstreams to showcase our progress.    With two more years to go, we’re excited to keep innovating for the advanced ceramics industry. A big thank you to everyone involved. 👏   #MICG #SIPF #StrengthInPlaces #Innovation
