Lucideon is at the forefront of materials development and commercialisation, offering cutting-edge expertise in the forming and densification of ceramic materials. Our advanced technologies and extensive industry knowledge enable us to optimise processes, reduce defects, and enhance product quality across a range of applications for industries including advanced ceramics, refractories, and traditional ceramics which rely on forming and densification to produce robust, high-quality products. Forming and densification are essential processes in the manufacturing of high-performance ceramic materials. Forming involves shaping powders or slurries into desired forms, while densification increases the density of these materials to enhance their mechanical properties, durability, and strength. Effective implementation of techniques such as powder pressing, slip casting, and additive manufacturing enable manufacturers to create complex shapes with precision and consistency. Lucideon’s expert knowledge and state-of-the-art facilities ensure precision control over these processes, reducing the rate of product defects, such as cracking and warping, while also minimising waste, leading to more efficient production. Lucideon’s Geoceramic MIDAR® Composites (GMCs) are built to bridge the performance gap between reinforced polymers and ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), meeting a need for flexible material solutions that can operate in ever harsher and more demanding environments. These materials need to withstand high temperatures, corrosivity, and display high thermal shock resistance whilst being cost effective and easily scalable. Utilising the capabilities found at The AMRICC Centre, our team has developed a range of GMC formulation options, each presenting different attributes to ensure that your performance requirements can be met and your material challenges will be solved. SprintGMC™ is one of Lucideon’s lightest GMC technologies, whilst retaining excellent strength characteristics and solid high temperature performance. SprintGMC™ is capable of continuous and reliable operation at temperatures of up to 500°C, with limited time operation possible as high as 800°C. Its lightweight carbon fibre technology offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for applications in the aerospace and automotive industries such as battery containment. SprintPlusGMC™ scales its high temperature performance to environments of 1000°C and above, marking it as ideal for short-term extreme environments. Through optimisation of its carbon fibre technology, it displays greater temperature durability than comparative materials and also boasts enhanced oxidation resistance. Interested in learning more?
