Some highlights of our summer show “Echoes of Earth” at the Southbank Centre Inspired by Tavares Strachan piece “You belong here” I used letters as a starting point for this collection. I loved the graphic aspect of Tavares work and playing with different perspectives of how these letters can be worn and move with the body while carrying a hidden word. It was a lovely experiment to have interactive moments with the audience and see everyone keen and involved. This show touched on many topics we have worked on in the past 5 years, addressing the role of Fashion within the climate crisis while creating safe and educational spaces to talk and interact with future ideas around sustainability, migration, dance, music poetry and our shared responsibility towards the environment. I’m beyond excited to invite you to “Echoes of Earth,” our summer show at Southbank Centre, join us to celebrate 5 years of Anciela with this immersive fashion presentation. Inspired by Tavares Strachan's "You Belong Here” from his amazing exhibition at the Hayward gallery “There is Light Somewhere” that really made me think about space and visibility and how we use our art to connect and tell stories during a time of environmental crisis. I left hopeful and inspired and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on with my super talented Anciela family. We’ll be exploring all these topics through dance, music, poetry and of course experimental fashion. Date: Saturday 3rd of August 2024 Location: Riverside Terrace, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London SE1 8XX Time: 2 - 4 pm Open to all

Anciela exhibiting at The Sustainable Angle 2024 Future fabric expo as part of British Fashion Council Low carbon transition programme. A wonderful initiative dedicated to SMEs to learn and consult with circular leading experts to generate a report contributing to UK net zero goals. I’m really excited to be part of the third cohort. Exhibiting long side great brands such as E.L.V. DENIM Patrick McDowell Richard James Savile Row Sustainable material choices still have the biggest impact when it comes to decarbonisation. We presented our recycled jacquard jacket made with British recycled yarns via iinouiio: Recycled Textiles developed with my friend and textile expert Alice Timmis And our halter neck top made with Irish hemp and linen jacquard and naturally dyed in London by Mariana Leyva from Studio Kuhu and “printed” by changing the PH of the pigments. #anciela

I’m very excited to be part of the third cohort of the Low Carbon transition programme.
Upstream activities, such as production, preparation and processing of materials represent around 75% (UNEP, 2020) of the fashion and textiles industry's emissions as many of the materials used come from farming, forests and fossil fuels. As a result, sourcing sustainable, lower impact materials is a key decarbonisation lever for many fashion brands and businesses. Six of the designers enrolled onto the BFC's Low Carbon Transition Programme are highlighting the importance of sustainable material choices in decarbonising the fashion supply chain by showcasing their designs at the #FutureFabricsExpo 2024. The BFC's Low Carbon Transition Programme exhibit features Anciela, DIJÁGO STUDIOS, E.L.V. DENIM, Maria Grachvogel, PATRICK McDOWELL, Richard James Savile Row and is on display today at Magazine London.
