They’ll have a team on hand at the sessions to talk to you about the UK's switch to digital landlines, what Digital Voice is, why the change is necessary, and what it means for you. You don’t have to pre-book, just turn up to their next drop-in session: 📆 30th of May 🕙 10:00 - 16:00 📍 Morrisons Arbroath, Hume St, Arbroath DD11 1LL For more information please visit www.bt.com/digitalvoice

  • We want you to have your say on taxis in the Angus Council area by taking part in our survey. Specifically, we want to understand more about the experiences of people who make journeys using wheelchair accessible taxis. We licence both drivers and operators to trade in the area, with vehicles licensed as either taxis or private hire vehicles. In this survey, for simplicity, ‘taxi’ refers to both. The TAS Partnership will help us to carry out this research into learning more about the experiences of local taxi users in Angus. As well as understanding more about passengers' experiences with wheelchair accessible taxis, we want to know how effectively they meet different travel needs. An accessible taxi is one that is designed to accommodate a passenger travelling in a wheelchair. It may have additional features to assist passengers with specific mobility needs related to physical or sensory impairment. Please take part in the survey if you are: • An individual who can tell us about personal experiences with taxis, including family members, friends or carers who may accompany someone on journeys • A representative of a groups and/or organisation whose clients or members may require accessible taxis and have experience of organising or procuring accessible transport. If you have any experience of local taxis, we would like to invite you to participate in this short questionnaire available via our Engage Angus webpages (https://bit.ly/3CLW6aC). You can also get a hard copy of the survey by contacting LAWLicensing@angus.gov.uk or calling 01307 492299; requesting a copy or copies from Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar and Bruce House, Wellgate, Arbroath; and on request from local public libraries and ACCESS offices. The survey is open for four weeks from today (Tuesday 18 February 2025) until Monday 17 March 2025. We would also encourage people to raise awareness about the survey among individuals and groups who may not have routine access to social media platforms so we can hear the views of as many people as possible. Anyone with any queries can contact LAWLicensing@angus.gov.uk or call 01307 492299.

In line with our rolling programme of updating policies, we are now looking at updating our policy on Managing Unauthorised Encampments of Gypsies/Travellers. Unauthorised encampment are places where a person camps (in vans, trailers or any other moveable accommodation) on land that they do not own, and where they do not have permission to stay. Our policy reflects guidance issued by the Scottish Government in 2017 to local authorities on the management of unauthorised encampments of Gypsy/Travellers, but it needs updating, particularly to ensure that the policy reflects internal changes and meets the needs of ALL of our residents. Angus Council recognises the Gypsy/Traveller community as a distinct ethnic group and we will continue to respect, support and protect their right to lead happy, productive and fulfilled lives. Our vision is that “Angus is a great place to live, work and visit” and this statement is true for all the people of Angus, from wherever and whatever community they come. The consultation is open now until 7 April. You can comment here: https://lnkd.in/efcVGCxq We will consider your comments to help inform any proposed changes to our policy which we will bring to Angus Council for elected member approval in May 2025.
