This can appear as unreliable budgets, failed change efforts, or an inability to measure performance accurately. If there's a culture of blame-shifting and lack of innovation, it often results in high turnover and low motivation. These are key indicators that it's time for a change. Managing conflict in diverse teams can be challenging, but it's essential for achieving positive results. In this article, Professor Randall Peterson, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at London Business School, shares three key strategies that can help leaders get the best out of their teams: 🎯 Build trust and protect it: Trust is the foundation of any successful team. When team members trust each other, they can disagree on tasks and processes without it becoming personal. Protecting and valuing trust makes handling conflicts much easier. 🎯 Guard against coordination failure: Diverse teams bring a wealth of perspectives and information, but they also risk coordination issues. Teams often struggle to piece together their work effectively. It's important to create strong coordination early on and watch for problems. If issues arise, focus on collaboration rather than placing blame. 🎯 Have a clear decision-making process: A clear process helps navigate disagreements. The best approach is qualified consensus, where everyone can live with the decision even if it's not their first choice. If consensus isn't possible, the team leader should make the decision while keeping everyone connected. Avoid majority rule, as it can lead to anger and poor performance.
