We’ve just released the latest Economic Impact Report for Anvil Arts, produced by BOP Consulting, and we couldn’t be more proud of the results it shows and the impressive contribution the charity made to the town last year, both in terms of its cultural offering and the local economy.  Anvil Arts’ activities generated a net economic impact of £7.3m for Basingstoke and Deane in 2023/34. That equates to nearly £14 for every £1 of public investment.  Every year, Anvil Arts brings around 200k people into Basingstoke, through the programme at The Anvil, The Forge and The Haymarket. Last year, 64% of our ticket buying audiences were from outside the town, who spent on average £38 on things like food, drinks and shopping, and in some cases, overnight stays here.  We have a small team that works incredibly hard to ensure as many local people as possible have access to arts and culture. As well as presenting over 400 events and shows, our community engagement programme saw nearly 10,000 young people taking part in school projects, around 3,000 young people performing in concerts, and initiatives such as relaxed performances to suit audiences with different needs.  Despite the tough economic climate and a challenging few years since the pandemic, this impact report clearly demonstrates the value that investment in arts and culture brings and the vital role it plays in towns and cities around the country. The full article and comments from Chief Executive, Matthew Cleaver, can be read here thanks to the Basingstoke Gazette https://lnkd.in/eAk9VC6h

Tuesday night, 18:30 performing on the stage in the Forge Theatre, at the Anvil Basingstoke (as a Basingstoke boy born and bred this was like a homecoming). My dream has come true. I love the stage, I love the feeling of all eyes on my performance, and that feeling of vulnerability in that moment. I wasn't singing, dancing, acting or delivering comedy (although I do believe my Dad jokes are pretty epic!), but I was delivering a session on Mental Health Awareness to staff of the theatre. This was the 2nd of 3 sessions over the week (next performance is on Friday morning at 10:30). We have recently started a 3 year programme with Anvil Arts supporting their amazing humans on the journey with mental health and wellbeing. They are committing to helping all of their employees with a structure of Awareness, Education and Support. It is great to be working with Sue McCleester and the team to support their growth. At Simpila Wellbeing we are proud to work with clients of all shapes and sizes, locally, national and globally. We are passionate and dedicated to help improve the conversations of all topics around wellbeing today. Helping as many people on this journey through life. Have a great day everyone. I know I have a full schedule of discussions and meetings today to help inspire, motivate and support more amazing humans. 💚
