Making a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield.
About us
At The Archer Project, we believe that people experiencing homelessness have plenty of skills, but they rarely have power. We don’t just create a world for people, we welcome them into ours. It is our experience, supported by research, that through building positive relationships, we can help people change their lives for the better. We do this by dividing our work into three streams: engagement, stabilisation and fulfilment. Engagement involves working with people who are sleeping rough and may be living more chaotic lifestyles. We work on building relationships and trust with these individuals so that we can help them begin to develop some form of routine. Our work at this stage is also focused on providing the basic necessities such as breakfast, lunch and food parcels, access to showers and laundry facilities, and medical facilities. One of our central aims is to help people build stability into their lives, this may be through helping them into accommodation, helping them secure benefits, or through our volunteering and/or activities programmes. Both the volunteering and activity programmes are aimed at helping build people’s self-confidence and self-worth as we aim to help people see that they are important and can achieve. The final element of our work is called fulfilment as it focuses on how people can create a stable and fulfilling life. Our social enterprises, Just Clean and Printed by Us, offer supported paid employment alongside a full wellbeing programme. For more information, check out our showcase pages. Getting off the street isn't the end of experiencing homelessness. It's really important the people we support have access to group activities that promote belonging, confidence, and self-worth as part of progression and recovery from homelessness. In 2024, 94 individuals we support at The Archer Project took part in 205 activities! Some of the regular sessions included: 🗣️ Peer Mentor led discussion groups 🧠 Mindfulness 🐴 Pony therapy Some of the days out were: 🌱 Blackberry picking 🐚 A trip to the seaside 🎳 Bowling 🧗 Abseiling 🥾 Hiking 🤺 A visit to Leeds Armoury Museum Your support makes these wellbeing activities possible – please donate today at https://lnkd.in/g2BxUbNy

Our social enterprise, Printed by Us, often holds workshops for charities and community organisations – including The Archer Project 💛 These workshops teach people the craft of screen printing by hand, in a supportive and relaxed environment 🎨 We know how important it is to support people in accessing creative activities and learning opportunities. Workshops like these are part of our holistic approach to recovery and progression away from homelessness. Using screen printing as a mindfulness tool is at the heart of what we do 🎨✨ Recently, we hosted a workshop for our recovery network partners, Archer Project! Beneficiaries got hands-on with printing, learned how it supports employment and heard inspiring stories from those who have moved through Archer Project’s program to join our supported employment initiative. Sheffield Ceramics Festival is supporting The Archer Project 😍🏺 Taking place at Sheffield Museums' Kelham Island Industrial Museum, the Festival will showcase 50 potters, sculptors and ceramic artists from Sheffield and beyond, exhibiting and offering work for sale. 🎟️ Entry on the door is just £2 and ticket fees will be donated to help support people who are progressing away from homelessness, to achieve a better life.
