🚨 Update on the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) 🚨 EU Home Commissioner Ylva Johansson announced that the highly anticipated EES, designed to replace manual passport stamping with automated biometric checks, will not launch on November 10th as originally planned. This marks yet another delay for a project that was initially slated to begin in 2022. Johansson revealed this news during the EU interior ministers' meeting on October 10th. Germany, France, and the Netherlands informed the EU that their border computer systems won’t be ready by the November deadline. Given that these countries represent around 40% of the passenger traffic affected by the change, their readiness is crucial for the successful rollout of the system. Currently, no new timeline has been set for the EES launch.
