To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, all Team Arthur came together over breakfast this morning to hear from Vicki Filer, Divisional Director for our Underwriting, Broking, and Claims team to learn about how we can all work together to #AccelerateAction for gender equality across our industry. Vicki shared valuable insights into the progress that has been made yet emphasised that the reality is that change is still slow, and more action is required to close the gender gap. In general, women still earn, on average, 20% less than men globally and remain underrepresented in leadership, face biases - both conscious and unconscious - and often must work harder to be heard, promoted, or given the same opportunities. Vicki highlighted that everyone could impact change and with small, consistent actions, we can all help accelerate action and forge women’s equality. This includes: - Calling out bias when you see it, even in subtle ways. - Actively mentoring and sponsoring women in your network to provide the support and build confidence to positively impact women’s advancement in the workplace. - Advocating for equal opportunities and representation in decision-making. - Allyship by ensuring every voice in the room is heard - not just the loudest ones, encouraging a colleague, recognising someone’s contributions, or challenging assumptions. - Support the Supporters by donating to IWD GIVING to aid the impactful work of some of the charities who work tirelessly for gender equality.
