  • UK Disability History Month (DHM) - 14 Nov- 20 Dec 2024 - is an annual event to raise awareness about disabled people’s struggle for equality and human rights. It is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made for disability rights and to act on what we can do to support disability equality in the present. For example, workplaces can host webinars on disability history and reflect on what they can do to improve their policies to promote disability inclusion'. (DHM page). The statistics are telling. 60%+ people with disability in employment Vs 82% non disabled. That is a stark difference. We have cone a long way from when people with disability were seen as 'useless eaters' 'morons' 'feeble' and housed in large centres or ...yes exterminated or just written out of society. What have been the successes? I’d love to hear your stories of sucess challenges and concerns. #DHM #belonging #disabilitydiversity #belongingvsabelism
