He cited the importance of Citizenship education as a key element in rebuilding public trust in democratic institutions and warned that at present, respect for the rule of law is not entirely secure. 🗞️ Read more of the highlights from the debate in our latest news item 👉https://ow.ly/fjIa50TUCbT 📢 Make sure you also have your say on the topic, and register for our free upcoming event on 12 Nov focusing on how we can #MakeSpaceforCitizenship in the upcoming Curriculum Review. Amongst the many peers eager to speak on the subject, the message was clear: now is a more crucial time than ever to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to engage in democracy. The debate emphasised the need for: 🔹A continued National Curriculum for Citizenship in schools 🔹A focus on the importance equipping young people the skills to critically evaluate information, to ensure informed participation in democracy 🔹More specialist teacher training and bursaries 🔹Ensuring Citizenship isn't subsumed by broader PSHE education 🗞️ Read more on the outcomes of this important debate in our latest news item: https://ow.ly/te8K50TTenM 📢 Also, make sure to join us on 12th November at 5pm as we continue the conversation during our upcoming online panel event, "Make Space for Citizenship – a discussion focused on the DfE Curriculum and Assessment Review."
