  • Bassetlaw District Council’s business hub, Middletons Yard in Worksop, has officially unveiled its Notts Building Preservation Trust Award, given in recognition of the sympathetic regeneration that’s taken place of the historically significant buildings. The Council, along with Anotherkind Architects, have been presented with a Harry Johnson Award for Best New Design 2024.   • Bassetlaw District Council’s Deputy Leader has welcomed the latest significant milestone reached in the project to build the UK’s first prototype fusion powerplant at West Burton. A shortlist has been announced of five construction and engineering bids in the running to build STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) by 2040, which once completed hopes to unlock limitless clean power. Cllr Jonathan Slater, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Estates said: “This is an exciting new chapter in the development and transformation of the former coal power plant at West Burton into the home of a world leading fusion energy plant.” “Not only will it help create employment opportunities, it will also help bring massive investment to the area and significantly boost our local economy.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/etJZ_5ke
