🐈⬛😸 Laid-back and loving life - Oscar has been in his new home for over six months now and he's taking full advantage of the relaxed vibes. His new owners said: "Oscar is doing really well. He’s an incredibly laid back boy, but still enjoys his toys and chasing around when he’s in the mood. His personality has really come out and he’s been a great addition to the home. He loves company and having a fuss, and when he’s not sleeping, he often follows you around the house. He spends hours looking out the window, loves a brush and is a fan of the television." "He’s incredibly easy and well behaved too, it feels like we’ve had him for years! He’s had interactions with neighbouring cats and wasn’t phased at all… he’s a very chilled boy. We’re now on the list to get Oscar a brother or sister from yourselves as I think he’d love the company. Thanks for everything you did for his adoption!" www.bcdh.org.uk/adopt #TransformingLives

🩺🐶😸 Getting those initial core set of #vaccinations for your #kitten or #puppy are so important to protect their health, and to supress disease outbreaks in the area. But what jabs should they have, and what are they for? In our Pet Care Advice section on our website, we've explained the vaccines your pet will get, plus the diseases they are preventing, so you can feel more confident in discussions with your vet about your pet’s health. 🎇🎆 As #BonfireNight approaches, Bath Cats & Dogs Home (RSPCA Bath & District Branch) has teamed up with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre and CDCH - The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home to share tips on keeping pets safe and reducing their stress this firework season. Our spokesperson, Mark Simpson, spoke to presenter Sean Hodges on BBC Radio Wiltshire this morning about how 55% of pet owners dread Bonfire Night, what signs of distress to look out for in your pet during fireworks, how you can make your pet as comfortable as possible and which music is best for calming pets during loud fireworks. Mark's top tips included: 🌟Make a comfortable den for your pet to hide in if they're anxious 🌟Prepare some treats, games and toys to distract your pet from loud bangs 🌟Put on a pheromone diffuser before Bonfire Night to help calm pets 🌟Play reggae or classical music to help pets stay calm during fireworks or put the radio or TV on. 🐱🐈🐾 Last year, we took in this rebellious trio with feline herpes virus. If their mum had been vaccinated, then they would not have suffered the effects which were ulcers and damage to their eyes, as well as respiratory issues. Luckily, after major surgery, they were just as rowdy as any other kitten. Read their full story on our blog: https://lnkd.in/eDvUETxh #TransformingLives

🐶🐕💙 Last week we rehomed four dogs and eight cats - including lovely Dolly here. This anxious girl was sadly abandoned in a layby, but she's started her journey to a happy, new life now! www.bcdh.org.uk/adopt #NewBeginnings

🐶🐕 Recently adopted puppy, Otis, formerly called Dylan, is busy exploring his new home and enjoying a lot of well-deserved attention. Here's an update from his new owners: "Otis is settling in really well. He loves exploring the garden and makes friends with everyone he meets. We've got the support of a trainer who has been helping us settle him in with a routine. He is a proper cuddle monkey and likes nothing more than curling up on someone's lap." 🎇🧨🎆Fireworks can upset some pets, so here's some pre-festivity planning from the team at Bath Cats & Dogs Home (RSPCA Bath & District Branch) so you can be prepared to help your best friend. Make a den or safe space in a quiet room, and add a familiar scent, such as a piece of your clothing, and some of their bedding. Your pet may already have an area that feels like this space, so make a note for fireworks night. For your dog, prepare some chews, stuffed kongs and chew toys and keep them specially for the loud days. For both cats and dogs, pop on a pheromone diffuser in the room where their den is. These disperse calming chemicals into the room – however they take a few days to take effect so check it is on before Bonfire night. If your pet is particularly sensitive to firework noise, talk to your vet for advice, they may be able to prescribe medication. 🐶😺💙 Our figures from last week - we reunited two lost pets with their families, and three dogs and six cats were adopted. Adoptees included this gorgeous Lurcher, Verity, who came to Bath Cats & Dogs Home (RSPCA Bath & District Branch) as a stray from a dog warden. She started with us as a quiet girl but left as a bouncy, happy dog full of joy for her next chapter. We love to see our rescue animals fill with confidence and find a lovely new home. www.bcdh.org.uk/adopt #NewBeginnings
