Older cats are often overlooked, but they’re just as cute, quirky, and loving as younger ones! Here's why you should consider an older cat: 😻 The older a cat gets, the less they roam and hunt and the calmer they become. 😻 They’re naturally more settled and independent, making them perfect for busy households, but most still enjoy playtime and cuddles! 😻 Staff at rescue centres like Battersea will be able to give you a good understanding of an older cat's personality and whether they're good with kids or other pets. If you think an older cat could be the perfect fit for your family, visit our website to learn more about our rehoming process 👉 https://bit.ly/3yo08Ar

Last night the Renters’ Rights Bill, which will give tenants the right to request a pet, passed its next step into becoming law. 💙 1000s of you emailed your MPs about the issue and they listened! They spoke about the importance of pets as part of the family, making a house a home.

Curious about how to help your dog stay calm around distractions? 🐕 In this video, we’ll show you how to recognise your dog’s ‘threshold’—the distance where they can stay focused and relaxed. By learning to spot the signs and practicing regularly, you should be able to expand your dog’s threshold.

Polo came to Battersea when his owner had to move and couldn’t find a pet-friendly flat. Despite the heartache, Polo quickly found a new loving home. Sadly, stories like Polo’s are far too common, and so painful for both owners and pets. That’s why Battersea is campaigning for Pet Friendly Properties, so renters can enjoy the love of a pet without barriers. Let your MP know that Pet Friendly Properties matter to you. Ask them to speak in favour of Renters' Rights Bill in Parliament on 9 October: https://bit.ly/4dndwqh

This #WorldRabiesDay, we’re celebrating the incredible work being done around the world to eliminate rabies and protect animals like Pixie. This four-month-old pup was vaccinated at one of Funda Nenja’s clinics in South Africa, helping keep her and her community safe. By supporting the vital work of organisations such as the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), Funda Nenja, and the South African Veterinary Association Community Veterinary Clinics (SAVA-CVC), Battersea is helping to protect thousands of dogs from rabies every year, which in turn will better protect local communities where rabies is endemic. Together, we’re working towards a future free from this preventable disease. 🤝

We’re very excited to launch a new partnership with our neighbours Cinema in the Power Station and Cinema in the Arches! 🎥🍿 To celebrate Wear Blue for Rescue, they've turned their cinema sign blue and will be selling film posters this Saturday, 28 September, with all proceeds going to Battersea. They will also be donating 10p to Battersea for every popcorn they sell during the two-year partnership. So treat yourself to a film and some popcorn, and help us continue to be here for every dog and cat who needs us. 💙

From rescue to star! 🤩 We took ex-Battersea dog Rory to see his face on billboards and screens across London, including at the iconic Battersea Power Station, moments away from where his journey began. Rory helped to translate Wear Blue for Rescue into ‘dog language,’ inviting canines and their humans to join in. After receiving love and care at Battersea, Rory found his loving home, and now it's time to celebrate all rescue pets like him. 💙 Get involved: https://bit.ly/4cPdKGh
