RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) is a maintenance and repair crisis with many schools across the UK now facing major structural risks. This outdated material poses serious safety concerns, leading to emergency closures and urgent remedial work.   In the public sector, its use has been much publicised with approximately 230 schools confirmed to have RAAC-related issues of which circa 120 require major reconstruction. Similarly, 47 NHS hospital sites across England has been identified.   At BDN, we’ve worked with educational Trusts nationwide, providing structural assessments and project management to tackle RAAC issues effectively. We are proud to be leading the design, delivery, and project management of Olympus Global’s proposal for a £2m advanced distribution facility in County Durham – a major investment that could strengthen the North East’s industrial and automotive sectors. 🏗️ Plans for a state-of-the-art 15,000 sq ft development at Aycliffe Business Park have been submitted and will provide modern office space and a high-tech distribution hub, supporting the company’s key clients like UNIPRES (UK) LIMITED, Thorn Lighting, and Gestamp. With sustainability at its core, our design includes bespoke features to align with the carbon reduction targets of Olympus Global and the wider BREEAM credentials set out in the County Durham Plan. Take a closer look at our work with British Steel! 👀   We partnered with national client, British Steel, to design and deliver a new, state of the art service centre at their Skinningrove facility in North Yorkshire.   This £26 million project transformed the area, enabling support for an extended range of high-value forklift profiles. Despite the challenges of ageing site assets, phased demolitions, and decommissioning, our project management team ensured uninterrupted production throughout. 🏗️   The result?
