Sustainability and creativity often seem like opposing forces, but as Katie McNeill from BeaconHouse Events demonstrates, they're powerful allies. By blending sustainable practices with a passion for innovation, Katie has transformed both her own business and the events industry. Her journey highlights how sustainability can inspire new ideas, enhance experiences, and create a lasting impact. Katie's story challenges the misconception that sustainability means sacrificing quality or creativity. In fact, it's often a catalyst for innovation. By exploring new possibilities and challenging traditional norms, we can discover exciting ways to engage our audiences while minimising our environmental footprint. From choosing sustainable materials to creating immersive experiences, every decision can contribute to a more sustainable event. By being mindful of our choices and embracing a mindset of continuous improvement, we can create events that are both meaningful and eco-friendly. Sustainability is more than just reducing waste; it's about creating a better future. By working together and embracing innovation, we can shape a more sustainable and inspiring events industry. Connect with us if you want to explore the possibilities together.

Is a keynote speaker the right Investment for your next event? A high-profile keynote speaker is often seen as a must-have for corporate events, but is it always the most effective choice? While a renowned speaker can undoubtedly add prestige and excitement, it's essential to consider whether they align with your organisation's strategic objectives and the mindset of your attendees. In our latest blog we chatted to workplace culture expert Ivan Hollingsworth of Centric Consultants Limited who points out, a stressed or disengaged team may not fully benefit from even the most inspiring keynote. Before making a substantial investment, ask yourself; does the speaker's message resonate with your team's current needs and challenges? How will their presentation contribute to your organisation's long-term goals? Are there alternative formats, such as panel discussions or workshops, that might offer a more tailored and interactive experience? By carefully considering these factors, you can ensure that your event delivers a lasting impact and fosters meaningful engagement. To learn more about how to create a sustainable and impactful event, get in touch and share your thoughts on keynote content done well and...not so well. https://lnkd.in/esZ7rkYV

This evening is the much anticipated Autumn Surplus Supper Club, held in the enchanting Blackfriars Restaurant Banquet Hall all in support of one of our ten supported charities for 2024, FareShare North East. The team are gearing up, ready to indulge in a carefully curated four-course menu, masterfully crafted by Blackfriars’ talented chefs. Each dish is created using surplus, seasonal ingredients, showcasing the incredible potential of food that might otherwise go to waste - a cause we’re very passionate about. When it comes to food we don’t need much persuasion, throw in some sustainability know-how and inspo - this was one supper club we weren’t going to miss. We're on a mission to change mindsets when it comes to food waste at events, there are so many options available to consider rather than simply 'waste'. We urge you to get in touch if you want to chat more about this topic, or if you are working in this area. Please check out FareShare North East if you’re looking for some guidance or inspiration on redistributing surplus food to those in need across the North East. https://lnkd.in/eKQS8czP

Leaving a lighter footprint: Our green initiative at CF Fertilisers Summer Social At BeaconHouse Events, we're committed to making a positive environmental impact with every event we deliver. Inspired by the Paris 2024 Olympics' groundbreaking sustainability efforts, which included 100% renewable energy, solar panels, and geothermal cooling systems, we were aiming for the gold standard in sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint at the CF Fertilisers Summer Social earlier this month. Partnering with Ingram AV, we implemented their innovative NRG system. This portable power station, powered by solar panels, provided clean, reliable, and silent energy for the CF Fertilisers marquee. Rigging up some additional solar panels meant that all AV equipment and the ever-important ice pops and refreshments were chilled with green energy. “Most generators will produce around 2.6 KG per litre of diesel used; when the NRG is powered up by solar, there are effectively zero emissions." Reed Ingram, Ingram AV Through these initiatives, we successfully minimised our carbon footprint while still providing a memorable and enjoyable experience. We believe that every event can contribute to a more sustainable future. #SustainableEvents #GreenInitiatives #CFFertilisers #SummerSocial #EventPlanning #SolarPower

Teamwork for the Tyne estuary! Today, we joined Groundwork North East & Cumbria to tackle invasive plants and monitor the site on the bank of the Tyne's recovery. We've been measuring how the saltmarsh has thrived as a result of their project, litter picking, and meeting a few little crabs along the way! #RevitalisingOurEstuaries 🦀 Want to learn more about Sarah's ongoing community commitments with Groundwork? Do you always feel welcomed and included at the events you attend? We commit time and effort to innovate and create events where this is never an afterthought. TechNExt is testament to our dedication to diversity and inclusion. By integrating strong ESG principles, we foster a vibrant and welcoming environment for the entire #NorthEast tech community. Why don't you borrow some of the ideas behind our initiatives for your next event: 📌 Offer fully funded tickets and open doors for underrepresented groups, ensuring a wider range of perspectives. 📌 Create funding pots to support diverse organisations to host inclusive fringe events. 📌 Target outreach to groups like Women in Tech and Asian Business Connections to encourage broader participation. 📌 Offer student discounts to empower the next generation. 📌 By conducting accessibility audits and allocating dedicated budgets, we ensure events can cater to all attendees. This includes provisions for carers, quiet spaces, and venue familiarisation videos to overcome potential barriers. We believe that diversity creates stronger, more innovative and impactful events. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it... SIX Rooftop invited us along to sample “Taste of SIX” a selection of six or nine stunning dishes crafted from the best seasonal, local produce, served in a tasting menu format. We went along to enjoy six courses and a cast a creative eye over how the space could work for future events, besides the obvious offering! The team at SIX Rooftop are dedicated to tailoring their offering to suit a wide range of needs with the upmost attention to quality and detail and that didn't go unnoticed. Besides leaving a lasting impression with the range of food and flavours, we’ve also been inspired by the warmth of the team, the incredible setting and the flexibility of the space. We’re constantly on the hunt for the next GREAT venue to host our events and we’re so lucky to have this on our doorstep and ticking every box. International clients always want a space with a view of the iconic bridges and oddly, despite such a buzzing Quayside we struggle to fit that brief - this space offer views with abundance! If you're looking for something a little different, somewhere that can offer the wow factor, a menu that offers local quality at a reasonable price tag and an experience that will leave your attendees with a lasting impression...just pop down to the river, you can't miss it. We loved it so much, we made a little reel: https://lnkd.in/e-CgqcPd
