We all know that degrees don't guarantee a job, but new data shows that we are now entering a new era - one in which employers are hiring for skills, not degrees. In the past month, cutting degree requirements has even become a presidential pledge from Kamala Harris. What's behind this change? For one thing, it's one of the less understood side effects of today's technology and AI acceleration. And if you are interested in what could help people have more equal access to work or how people can future proof their careers, I believe this new focus on skills over degrees is worth being excited about.
