We love to hear about change-making initiatives within the #BCorp community. A select few founders from our community took centre stage at Louder Than Words to share ways they are joining forces with other organisations to drive change.
Here are just a few of the impact stories highlighted during the festival:
👏 Finisterre’s Adaptive Wetsuit
Adele Gingell, head of positive impact at #BCorp Finisterre, shared the inspiring story behind ‘The Wetsuit Project’. In partnership with Bodyline, Finisterre has adapted a range of their wetsuits to improve accessibility, breaking down barriers so people of all abilities can experience the profound mental and physical health benefits of the sea. To date, this initiative has adapted hundreds of wetsuits, making the ocean more accessible.
👏 Design Declares
Jo Barnard founder of #BCorp design consultancy Morrama | Certified B Corp and Abb-d Taiyo, co-founder and CCO of #BCorp Driftime® – A Design & Impact Agency, both co-steers of Design Declares, discussed how the campaign is uniting designers, studios, agencies, and institutions in a powerful movement. Their goal? To harness the potential of the design industry to reimagine, rebuild, and heal our earth.
👏 Brompton Bicycle and Sähëlï Hub
Naseem Akhtar, founder and CEO of Saheli Hub, and Julian Scriven, director of #BCorp Brompton Bicycle, shared how their partnership is making a real difference within the community. Through their joint initiative, Brompton Bicycle has donated 50 bikes to Saheli Hub, creating new opportunities for women from ethnically diverse communities empowering them on their healthy lifestyle journey.
👏 B Corp Beauty Coalition
Jo-Anne Chidley founder of #BCorp Beauty Kitchen UK Ltd | B Corp and Reposit | Returnable Packaging Platform | B Corp and Bernardo Maza Stern B Lab Europe senior community engagement manager, shared the ambitious collective vision of the B Beauty coalition — a collective of B Corps in the beauty industry. The group is committed to working together to share knowledge and best practices, spark exploration and responsible innovation. As part of their work, the coalition has developed a suite of tools for the industry to utilise including a sustainable packaging evaluation guide, a greener logistics guide and will soon be releasing an ingredient sourcing tool all aimed at fostering a more sustainable and regenerative beauty industry.
