Bees Abroad

Non-profit Organization Management

We are Bees Abroad, working to enable communities to empower themselves, through sustainable beekeeping.

About us

Bees Abroad is a UK-based NGO working to relieve poverty through beekeeping and associated skills using sustainable methods with community groups. We are the most experienced practical charity in this field worldwide, managing 50 projects at this time. Much of our work is in sub-Saharan Africa but we have experience in Asia and can easily transfer our skills to Europe and elsewhere. Many of our projects are with women's groups, unemployed youth or other disadvantaged groups. All our trustees, project managers, and supporters are volunteers.

What's another word for superstar? Legend perhaps, or VIP? 🌟 🧐 At Bees Abroad, it appears that Ian is a byword for superstar. We recently heard from two of our supporters, both called Ian, both of whom have gone above and beyond to raise money to support our work. We've included the heartwarming messages below: ⭐️ Ian Grant ⭐️ Ian has supported us for many years giving talks, collecting swarms and raising funds for us in the process. ❝ I have been keeping bees for 20 years and currently have 6 hives on a farm in Billericay. I harvest the honey when the bees have plenty and sell to friends and neighbours from my house. This year has been particularly good and the foraging season is not yet over! I am a member of Chelmsford Bee Keepers Association serving as Education Officer which gets me doing presentations and talks about bees as pollinators and also beekeeping. I visit adult groups, such as WIs and Horticultural Societies, scouts, guides, and when I go to Primary and Pre-schools my title is “Be Good to Bees”. ❞ ⭐️ Ian Lindsay ⭐️ Ian recently sent us donation money he had raised from selling homemade beekeeping equipment. Earlier this year he also donated proceeds from his honey sales. He's what Ian shared with us: ❝ I love working with wood and have made all my own hives. I decided that I should do something for Bees Abroad again as I had donated £50 from my honey harvest earlier this year. Actually, it was my daughter Fiona who sent it for me. She sold my honey to her fellow teachers at school. You were asking what I made. I made two seven-frame nucleus hives, three split boards, two national brood boxes and I chucked a few bird boxes I had into the mix. The prices were low therefore a quick sale! It is absolutely great that folks abroad can be supported by Bees Abroad. I should chat to my fellow beeks about Bees Abroad. Kindest regards and Best wishes. Ian Lindsay ❞ ---- ❓ Have you been fundraising for us? Let us know so we can thank you! ---- #volunteering #fundraiging #charityfundraiser
