Our founder, Sir Alec Reed, sits down with our chair, James Reed CBE, for a fascinating discussion on business, philanthropy, and the power of giving back. From starting as an office boy at 16 to building a business empire with just £75 in 1960, Sir Alec has spent decades shaping industries and transforming lives. As the founder of Big Give and six other charities, his impact on philanthropy is immeasurable. In this special episode of 'All About Business', he shares insights from over seven decades in business - how challenges create unexpected opportunities and why generosity is at the heart of his mission. 🔗 Tune in now and be inspired - podcast link in comments.
“Ideas are the real currency of business”. This weeks episode of “all about business” is a very special one. To celebrate his 91st birthday, I sat down with my father, business veteran and stellar entrepreneur Sir Alec Reed, in our beloved Reed Business School. Life isn’t always determined by the cards you are dealt but by how you play your hand… Born in Hounslow in 1934 during the Great Depression, Alec left school at 16 and began his career as an office boy. Starting out with just £75 in 1960, he transformed his circumstances and built a legacy that now includes seven charities, several companies, two schools… and the list goes on. In this episode, he shares insights from over seven decades in business, the lessons he's learned and how setbacks can create unexpected opportunities. Knighted in 2011, for services to business and charity, Sir Alec Reed continues to work as 'Founder at Large' at Reed. I owe so much to this wonderful man, who finally hired me after a 'thirty-year long interview.' Tune in to this special episode to hear from a true legend in business and philanthropy, who I have the privilege of calling my father. I hope you enjoy it… #LoveMondays #LifeAtReed #ImprovingLifesThroughWork #Since1960 #AllAboutBusiness #Entrepreneurship #Philanthropy #Leadership #FamilyBusiness
