About us
The Students' Union at The University of London Birkbeck, representing 13,000 students in London, England. We're here to make your time at Birkbeck the best it can be! 🎓 Everything we do at BBKSU is designed to improve your student experience one way or another: from encouraging you to self-organise, elect committees, run events and set up campaigns, through orchestrating a Freshers/Orientation program that remembers that Birkbeck is home to a wide range of students with varying interests & calendars, to sitting on College committees to ensure that we are remembered and heard when decisions are made. All of this is co-ordinated by your elected student Executive Committee & our small but dedicated staff team: All of the above takes preparation, commitment & passion from our staff & student officers. The Union relies on the hundreds of student voluntary hours our officers and helpers donate each year, each of them plays a role in ensuring we are able to provide for students and grow to meet the changing needs of the Birkbeck population. If you’d like information on any of the above, or how you can be involved, get in touch: Email: studentsunion@bcsu.bbk.ac.uk Twitter: @BirkbeckUnion Facebook: @BirkbeckUnion Instagram: @birkbeckunion

Welcome Week Recap: A Great Start to the Academic Year 🎉 After three incredible weeks of welcoming new students to Birkbeck University, our Welcome Week has officially come to an end, and what a journey it’s been! It was fantastic to see such high levels of engagement, with over 1,000 students attending our events. 🙌 This marks my final Freshers’ Week as Chairman & Education Lead, and I couldn't have asked for a better start to the year. 💫 Here are some quick highlights: The Big Birkbeck Welcome: 🎓 A brilliant opportunity to introduce new students to the Students’ Union, showcase all the resources and support available, and help them connect with our wonderful community. 🤝 National Gallery Tour: 🖼️ Perfect for art enthusiasts, this tour allowed students to explore the world of fine art and build connections with like-minded individuals. Afternoon Tea with the Vice Chancellor: ☕ A unique and memorable event where students had the chance to engage with our Vice Chancellor and receive valuable insights and advice from the head of the university. 🎤 Quiz Night & Karaoke Night: 🎤🧠 Always a hit! These events were filled with fun, laughter, and amazing participation. As the quiz master, I had a blast hosting these for our vibrant student body. 🎉 Welcome Fair: 🎪 My final event of this year's Welcome Week was the Welcome Fair, which brought clubs, societies, and external partners together. It was heartening to see so many students enjoying themselves, discovering new interests, and connecting with the Birkbeck community. 🌟 On a personal note, its always wonderful to meet many of the students, discuss my projects and priorities for the year, and to hear from members of our amazing community. 💬 One of the standout moments? Being recognized as “the guy from the Instagram” – a fun reminder that people watching those video📱 Of course, none of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our SU activities team and the university. 🙏 A massive thank you to everyone who helped make Welcome Week such a success. To all students and staff: Here's to a fantastic year ahead! 🎓✨ #WelcomeWeek #StudentUnion #BirkbeckUniversity #UniversityLife #StudentCommunity #CampusEvents #Leadership #UniversityExperience #BirkbeckSU #StudentEngagement #HigherEducation
