"...Isn’t it deeply poignant to hear of Quincy Jones’ passing?...Quincy was a remarkable musician in his own right, a visionary who transformed the soundscape of an era. It’s fascinating to think about the musical alchemy he shared with legends like Jackson and Bruce Swedien, who created that unforgettable drum intro for Billie Jean and was by MJ’s side well into his Earth Song years. These men represented a golden age of music, where technical skill, artistic passion, and enduring partnerships created magic that still resonates. Michael Jackson became a star not just because of his incredible talent but also because he chose collaborators like Quincy—those who could translate his ambition into iconic sound. His legacy is often undervalued, especially his business insight and sharp understanding of the music industry. But numbers don’t lie: Billboard, Spotify, and TikTok prove he remains a powerful influence, inspiring young artists worldwide. Quincy Jones was instrumental in shaping this legacy, and through their music, both continue to shine as eternal influences on modern artistry.” Rawle Beckles #quote Credit to: Diane Yoder for collage via #pinterest https://pin.it/6hH35NUFD of #QuincyJones.

Who is really leading us? Today is Black Leaders Awareness Day (BLAD). It was created to enable people from all cultures to experience the wisdom of past, current, and next-generation leaders through the speeches, quotes, and videos they share. This day serves the purpose of ensuring that the history of black leaders remains at the forefront of society, acknowledging the impact these leaders have had throughout history, right through to the present day and beyond. This carousel features quotes from influential black leaders making significant impact right here in the UK. It's a reminder that whatever your platform looks like, you can use it to influence for change: david mcqueen: "Having people who know you feel challenged, inspired and most importantly respected is better than just being well known." Dr A-Marie I.: "Innovation thrives in diversity." Emmanuel Asuquo: "Don’t give up, keep going and walk in the confidence of the conqueror you are." Malorie Blackman: "History should belong to all of us, and it needs to include people from different cultural backgrounds. Otherwise, it risks becoming irrelevant to children, who could then become disenchanted with education." STORMZY LIMITED: "Use your voice to speak up for what you believe in." Solomon Smith (Brixton Soup Kitchen): "In my mind I was thinking, if they had clothes and they had something warm in their belly they would be alive today, you know. All of those homeless people had a story to tell and now we will never know their story." Jermaine Craig (Kwanda): "I've always been called to advocacy, I'm sickened at injustice." Courtney Daniella Boateng: "We cannot be attracted to vulnerability in others and yet be repulsed by our own." Creating inclusive spaces for Black leadership isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s also good for business. According to a highly referenced McKinsey study, businesses led by black people are 36% more likely to outperform their peers. This shows how important inclusivity is in sparking new ideas and boosting profits. Let’s also give a shoutout to those who’ve been through tough times, paving the way for future generations. Their resilience and courage have helped us move closer to equality and representation. If you're interested in celebrating black leaders, drop me a DM to learn more about my 'Paving the Way' workshop. "Being a Black woman in power at the University for Common Good just feels right because I'm here for my capabilities, not just my identity. It's a powerful rebuttal to racism and sexism, proving that equality is not just idealistic but practical. This role, entrusted to me by the diverse student population, is a testament to true meritocracy and a call to everyone to uphold equality, diversity, and inclusion until it becomes as natural as the air we breathe." Oluwatomisin Osinubi Oluwatomisin Osinubi was elected to lead and represent students as Vice President for GSBS in the recent @GCUstudents Elections. #BlackLeadersAwarenessDay
