IMAS was delighted to participate in the SSP Networking Session: "Empowerment through Engagement" organized by Black Sun Global and Stewardship Asia Centre on Wednesday.   Black Sun Global and the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) revealed their research findings on the stakeholder engagement practices of listed companies. The session led by speakers, Uantchern Loh, Chairman, and Zi Wei Yap, Investor & ESG Communications Director of Black Sun Global deep dived into not only into how the research was carried out, but also best practices for stakeholder engagement, speaking on the importance of #transparency, #accountability, #visibility and #balance in looking at #corporategovernance, #stakeholderengagement and #stakeholderneeds; not forgetting the use of #technology to enhance these efforts.   IMAS partners with Stewardship Asia to strengthen institutional capacity by promoting strong #stewardship principles and uniting leaders for mutual learning and the exchange of practical insights on the challenges businesses and organizations face today.   These sessions are crucial to strengthen our #community and drive positive change together as an industry. 🌟 Reflecting on Key Insights from the SSP Networking Series: Empowerment through Engagement organised by Black Sun Global and Stewardship Asia Centre 🌟 Three key points discussed that resonated with me: 1️⃣ Corporate Governance Alignment: The discussion emphasized the importance of aligning corporate governance with stakeholder engagement, showcasing the need for companies to effectively communicate how their board considers stakeholders in decision-making processes. 2️⃣ Communication Effectiveness: The session highlighted the significance of maximizing digital communication channels and conducting regular materiality assessments to enhance communication effectiveness and engagement with stakeholders. 3️⃣ Balancing Stakeholder Needs: It was intriguing to learn about the varying emphasis placed on different stakeholder groups across industries, with companies prioritizing community engagement, employee engagement, or data privacy and security based on their specific industry focus.
