We’ve started making the move to Electric for all our small craft. This gives our clients a more environmentally friendly option for inland and specialist waters. Obviously depending on the conditions and flow we can offer an oil and petrol free safety and work boat. Currently we are using the Torqeedo Travel XP S Electric Outboard Motor. We take spare batteries that live on charge. It’s lighter for launching, so also helps with the slightly awkward subject of manual handling around the water. A great move for us and we look forward to helping our clients meet their carbon neutral aims. Pontoon Demobilastion - Bristol Our last big job of 2024 was removing the 300m2 pontoon we had installed and hired to Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd in Bristol. This was utilised for concrete repairs under a bridge on a very technical water way. Like all rivers, the Avon river flows to the sea but even in the areas classed as ”Non Tidal” the water can flow up stream in spring tides. During heavy weather not only was there the risk of debris coming down stream at speed but also the river rising but over 2m. Our team have managed the pontoon over the 8 months it was on hire. Working with the local harbour master and the client to ensure it was in place, when work could be safely carried out. Then removed when the conditions were not acceptable or safe for the pontoon to be in position. Our team of experts in both tidal and inland waters like to solve on water problems to help people #Workonwater. Great to get some of our team out up skilling themselves with our friends at RNLI Portishead. A cold but amazingly useful night for our specialist operatives working on search and rescue as well as sea survival. It’s important we practice and learn in the environments we operate in, so doing it in conjunction with some RNLI in house trainjng was the perfect opportunity and we thank them for lettting us join in.
