Today, we are proudly wearing odd socks to celebrate the beauty of diversity and the incredible spirit of individuals with Down Syndrome and support our colleague Shon James and his beautiful daughter Alma to raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. By wearing our odd socks today, we celebrate their strength, resilience, and boundless love. Let's use this day to raise awareness, promote inclusivity, and spread kindness. Together, we can create a world where everyone is celebrated for who they are, regardless of abilities or differences. A small gesture can make a big difference! #WDSD25 #WorldDownSyndromeDay #LotsOfSocks #InclusionMatters

Griffiths and Farrans Construction working jointly as GFJV, have been celebrating and supporting the wellbeing of our apprentices working on the delivery of the transformational public transport hub at Bristol Airport. The apprentices attended a workshop raising their awareness of mental health issues and how to support others. They also spent time in a Q&A session with Dave Lees, Bristol Airport Chief Executive sharing with him details of the work they have been involved in and how rewarding they are finding the apprentice experience on the project. By far one of the most pressing challenges facing the construction industry at present is the major skills shortage. On this project our team has developed a programme of activity which aligns with the priorities of our client and the local community providing, amongst other areas of work, employment opportunities and opening up learning opportunities for young people. To date we have supported 9 apprentices through the project with these being provided with invaluable skills in various disciplines across the industry such as civil, mechanical & electrical engineering; dealing with complex designs; environmental and commercial planning. #apprentices #constructionjobs #education #farransconstruction #alungriffiths #bristolairport

It’s #TimeToTalk day. At Griffiths, we value mental health with over 50 Mental Health First Aiders in the business. Every first Thursday of the month we have a Take 10 @ 10 initiative, where colleagues put down their phones and have a conversation to promote discussions around mental health. Conversations are so important, reach out, lend an ear and share your story. Together we can create a supportive community! Time to Change Wales #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness

On International Women’s Day, Saturday 8th March, two of our staff, Lucy England and Rachel Harries are completing a 16 mile walk along the valley path at Builth Wells to Glasbury village. The walk is being guided by Walk Hay (walkhay.co.uk). 50% of the cost of the tickets is being donated to Welsh Women’s Aid. This is a most worthy cause and if you would like to help raise even more money for the charity please click on the following link: https://lnkd.in/eU3gfisc Welsh Women's Aid Rachel Harries Lucy England

February is #Defibuary ❤️ At Griffiths, we’re committed to raising awareness about sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and the life-saving power of defibrillators. Every second counts in an emergency, and access to an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can mean the difference between life and death. This month, we’re taking action by: ✅ Promoting CPR & AED training – did you know that 350 of our staff have already received Defib Awareness training ✅ Ensuring our workplaces are equipped with AEDs – we have 20 defibrillators on our sites and offices ✅ Spreading awareness about the importance of early defibrillation #Defibuary #HeartHealth #AEDsSaveLives #CPRAwareness

Griffiths Farrans JV is making excellent progress on its transformational public transport project at Bristol Airport Since topping out in November, the team has completed the Passenger Transport Interchange steel work on level 4 and has just 3 more pours remaining to complete the structural slab on level 4, followed by stair cores and parapets. The pre-cast link bridge installation commenced last week to connect directly to the existing car park. The 48 metre-long bridge link to the terminal will be visible next month with construction to take place on the ground before it is lifted into place in two sections. #aviation #construction #airport #civilengineering Farrans Construction

Members of our team working on our Powick Bridge project recently visited the Bramblewood Project in Worcester to donate logs which will be used by volunteers and service users. The project is a forest school for children, alternative education provision for students who are not in mainstream school, wellbeing space for adults and a range of workshops and learning opportunities. It provides opportunities for the community to look after and protect an important nature corridor. During enabling works for the Powick Bridge project a number of trees were cleared and cut into logs. Rather than these being sent for recycling, the logs will have a second life by being used as stumps for seating, mallets, playing on or tables or within workshops activities at Bramblewood. https://lnkd.in/e27w58u9 Helen Fairest, Founder and Coordinator at Bramblewood commented “Thank you so much for the shipment of logs from the works on the Old Teme Bridge at Powick. We are really glad to receive the pile of logs and stumps and help make sure the timber gets meaningfully repurposed. Several stumps have already been put to use as seats and a replacement for our old chopping block, another will become a bench, one is ear marked to be turned into a mallets and lots will be cut, stored and seasoned to fuel the campfire and keep our children's and adults' groups warm next winter. Huge thanks to the team that brought them over, and barrowed back and forth bringing them onto site.”
