Faith in Christ, abundant life
About us
BMS World Mission mobilises people, resources and skills across the Global Church to share the good news of Jesus and practical hope where they’re needed most. We work hand-in-hand with global organisations, mission workers and supporters to: ✝️ share Christ and nurture disciples ⚖️ alleviate suffering and injustice 🌏 enable all God’s people to play their part in his mission Since our founding in 1792, God has worked through BMS supporters, partners and workers to save and transform lives. We’re over 230 years old, and our Baptist history has laid a rich foundation from which we still learn, grow and take inspiration today. We believe that every follower of Jesus has a calling to mission, including you. Together, we're working for a world where all can experience faith in Christ and the abundant life only he provides.

This week, our Executive Director Team took some time out reflect on what's coming up for BMS World Mission. They checked in with the BMS vision and with how each department is helping to alleviate suffering and share the Word of God across the world. They also took time to look at what we provide to our global partners and people in mission, ensuring that we support them in a way that empowers and resources them to grow God's mission. Prayer and reflection are so important as we seek to ensure BMS can "go where the [Holy] Spirit is already working".

On Tuesday the BMS Communications Team had the pleasure of hosting Neighbourhood's Rosie and Dan for the whole day! The purpose? Unfortunately not to wile away the gorgeous sunshine with a picnic – though the chance was taken at lunch! Instead, Rosie and Dan came down to Didcot to help our Comms Team audit their social media and email strategies, processes and content. It was a fantastic day though with a few heated opinions at times (when isn't there if you put creatives in a room together?). Thanks Neighbourhood for a great, informative and challenging day!

🎵 "It's the start of something new..." Okay, we're not digging out the karaoke kit quite yet but we are starting a new project! Spearheaded by a dedicated team drawn from across BMS, the new youth engagement project is all about seeing young people being actively involved in God's work across the global Church. But we need your help! If you attend a church or are involved with a youth organisation, we would love you to fill out our Youth and Young People Engagement Survey. Yes, we're (finally) taking Gen Z seriously*. It will only take 10 minutes max! Answer our survey ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e7-igaU7 *And if the Marketing Manager has her way, getting ahead on Gen Alpha!

Meet Ruth Whiter. For six years, she's been the genius behind the BMS website. And it has taken genius to keep the overwhelmed WordPress (too many plugins!) website running smoothly for our supporters. This week, she's as excited as the little girl on her screen because next week we launch a major refresh of the website! Ruth says, "The process of planning and designing the new site has really brought it home to me that without church leaders, BMS reps, Birthday Scheme Co-ordinators and other volunteers who share their passion for what God is doing across the world, we simply couldn't exist, and so many lives could not be transformed." If you're one of those people – thank you! Our aim has been to create a website that makes it easier to access resources and enable our supporters to keep their churches up to date with the latest news from BMS World Mission and our partners. Oh, and to have fewer plugins to manage 😉 The new site at www.bmsworldmission.org is live from Tuesday 7 May. We'd love to hear what you think!

Earlier this year, our partners at Bethlehem Bible College used this prayer when they led us in prayer for the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. We invite you to join with them again, as we move through Holy Week to Easter Sunday. God of resurrection, Death is around us, Lurks in the corner, threatens our loved ones. Our Saturday is long and dark, And the suffering feels unbearable and endless. In faith, albeit limping, we declare: You have defeated death. Sunday is coming. We believe, help our unbelief. *Mark 9:23-25
