🚨An advisory has been issued, recommending applying the recent #Microsoft #security #updates from this week's patch Tuesday. The Vulnerability, a remote code execution (RCE) across IPv6 TCP/IP, has been issued with a CVSS score of 9.8.  Meaning, #urgent action is recommended. By using this method, an attacker could perform an RCE using arbitrary code to take over a chosen system.  This Vulnerability can compromise systems without any end user interaction and it can circumnavigate firewall policies, resulting in the total control of the system. It is advised to immediately run #Microsoft's #patches, which were released (13th of August 2024), or disable IPv6 on Windows endpoints (although this should only be used as a temporary measure). Admins should be aware further updates could be released in the coming days. https://lnkd.in/gDX79euM

🚨 Many Microsoft services have been disrupted Globally, which is believed to only affect #CrowdStrike customers. The issue is affecting all sectors in the UK, Europe, US, Australia and New Zealand on #Windows devices only. Mac and Linux are unaffected. This is a fluid and Global event so reports are limited and fast moving. The affected update, which was pushed by CrowdStrike earlier today has subsequently been pulled, although it is advised to speak to your CrowdStrike Account Manager or Technical Support for further assistance. https://lnkd.in/dajvZwJC

🚨 The #Qualys #Threat Research Unit (#TRU) has identified a Remote Unauthenticated Code Execution Vulnerability in OpenSSH's server glibc-based Linux systems, which has been assigned CVE-2024-6368. A Remote Unauthorised Code Execution is a way a threat actor can run an arbitrary code with the highest privileges to take over systems.  This then allows the attacker to move laterally, manipulate data and install malware into the network. The TRU have discovered approximately 14 million potentially vulnerable OpenSSH servers, exposed to the internet.  It is advised to #patch #immediately: OpenSSH versions earlier than 4.4p1 are vulnerable to this signal handler race condition unless they are patched for CVE-2006-5051 and CVE-2008-4109. Versions from 4.4p1 up to, but not including, 8.5p1 are not vulnerable due to a transformative patch for CVE-2006-5051, which made a previously unsafe function secure. The vulnerability resurfaces in versions from 8.5p1 up to, but not including, 9.8p1 due to the accidental removal of a critical component in a function.

🚨Ticketmaster has acknowleged a #cyber #incident which is being touted as one of the biggest #data breaches in history. Approximately 500 million customer details have been compromised. ShineyHunters, the same group reportedly behind the Santander breach, are advertising the attack and demanding £400,000. Ticketmaster has filled the incident with US Security and Exchange Commision and is working with incident response teams. Live Nation, who merged with Ticketmaster in 2010, stated the incident was observed on 20th of May when seeing "unauthorised activity in a third-party cloud database". https://lnkd.in/eyq5f-EX

🚨 It has been reported Santander has suffered a major #Cyber incident, resulting in the exfiltration of millions of customer and employee details. ShineyHunters, the same group responsible for the alleged Ticket Master hack, are actively auctioning the banks data for a reported £1.6m. The details are said to include 30 million customers #data, 6 million account numbers and balances and 28 million credit card numbers. Santander have confirmed a security incident took place two weeks ago, however, the bank is yet to confirm what data has been stolen. It is believed, UK data has not been compromised, with only the countries of Chile, Spain and Uruguay with some current and former employees being affected. Little information on how the attackers evaded Santander's Cyber defences is known. https://lnkd.in/e2S6ZmCV

🚨 MOD Data Breach. A third-party contractor for the UK armed forced, Shared Services Connected Ltd (SSCL), has suffered a large-scale data breach which has exposed around 270,000 personnel details. The information harvested is believed to have included names and bank details of serving, part-time reservists, which includes at least 1 MP and veterans who left the service after January 2018. SSCL runs the payroll for most of the UK military branches and this is the second time in the last 12 months the MOD has been targeted through third-party partners. It has been stressed the armed forces payment network is isolated from the MOD core network and HR systems. Even though it is believed a nation state is behind the attack, it is a further demonstration the intended target is not always the initial victim. Understanding third-party risk is something which has largely been overlooked, but knowing partners risk profiles and security controls are essential to safeguard company assets. Please contact the BOM sales team to find out about our security awareness platforms and how they help in educating staff to identify malicious communications. https://lnkd.in/gb8D6bxD
