Connecting dog owners with trusted local people who would love to look after their dog for walks, overnight or holidays

About us

BorrowMyDoggy connects dog owners with trusted local people who would love to look after their dog. We make it easy to arrange walks, playtime, overnight stays or holidays. Our aim is to help dog owners when they need it, provide new and healthy experiences for their dogs and to allow people without a dog to spend quality time with one. Rikke Rosenlund founded BorrowMyDoggy in 2012 after taking care of a neighbour’s dog “Aston” for the day. She soon realised that dog owners could use a helping paw looking after their dog, and that there were thousands of people, just like her, who would like to take care of a dog, simply because they love dogs. BorrowMyDoggy is now the most active online communities of dog lovers, with over 500,000 members throughout the UK and Ireland. We’ve successfully connected thousands of owners and borrowers and the business is going from strength to strength. Over 13 million people own a dog in the UK and Ireland. Dog owners come in all shapes and sizes - they could be families, retired people, students, professionals and more. Some may have gone through life changes, which drive their need for help - having a baby, moving house, changing job or maybe relationship changes. “Owners should be aware of the huge benefits that BorrowMyDoggy can bring to their dog. The positive psychological impact on the dog is the biggest thing that owners won’t realise until they do it.“ Our Borrowers are often unable to own a dog, but just want to spend some time with one for the love of dogs, not money. They could also be trialling caring for a dog before buying one - it’s a great way to test the water, especially with different breeds. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to test your kids with a dog, too. “I grew up with dogs all my life, but when I moved, I had to leave my two Dalmatians behind with my family. Work commitments and an inflexible rental agreement mean I can’t have a dog of my own.” Sign up today at BorrowMyDoggy.com

Simply the best £12.99 I’ve ever spent. A few months ago I became a premium member of BorrowMyDoggy, and started connecting with local owners whose dogs need more company - be that walks, playtime or dog sitting So a couple of times a week, I get out of the house, out into nature and enjoy a few hours walking with a very excitable and happy four-legged friend. It totally clears my head, and keeps my focus where it should be - in the moment, and with them. I love it. In a world where there’s a lot of noise, ups and downs, life pressures and distractions, isn’t it amazing that a proposition so simple cuts through all of it? I’m not a brand ambassador or sponsored by BorrowMyDoggy, I just think this scheme is brilliant. The £12.99 is an annual fee, includes insurance, vet support, and allows you to message local owners. The value exchange is outstanding.

Our founder always wanted a dog growing up, but like many families due to various circumstances, it just wasn’t possible to have a dog of their own, so stories like this really remind us why BorrowMyDoggy was created – to bring the joy of dogs to those who may not be able to have one themselves, while also helping owners share the love and care their dogs deserve 💛

SOOOO excited as Peggy the Cavapoo is coming to stay for 4 days from today, via BorrowMyDoggy - and this is all weirdly thanks to Wim Hof! HUH?! I'll explain... The boys have wanted a dog for YEARS, but I said we needed a bigger house and garden. Hubby Andy Pieroux was always against the idea. Them we got the bigger house/garden but I wanted all the building work to be completed rather than putting a dog through all that. (We've done 2 of the 3 floors and have had to pause - renovs do not come cheap!). End of August, at Camp Bestival, Andy and I did the Wim Hof experience (including an ice bath for 2 minutes!!!). There was a lot of breathing, meditation, sound baths, etc... and everyone said afterwards that they felt.. Relaxed... Energised... Clearer-headed... (etc) Then Andy sat up and he said he was now in no doubt that we needed a dog! (He's now calling it an 'epuphany'....) You can imagine my shock and cynicism! If he changed his mind suddenly in a breathing workshop, what if it changed back again at another? It's a HUGE commitment, so once we got home, I signed us up on borrowmydoggy . com to trial the concept of dog ownership. Part-time dogging (as hubby is now calling it - I've asked him not to!) is perfect for the dog-curious. Also - I noticed there's LOADS of single people on the site - either with a dog who need support or who want a dog but can't commit. I can't help but wonder if owner/borrowers have found human love as a result too?! Verdict so far: I'm actually loving the concept as a lifestyle choice in itself if you love dogs, but can't (or don't want) to have a whole one! (Especially good for us, for now with further building works in the plan...) What prompted you to get a dog? (And/or have you used the site before?) I'd love to know! #FridayFun #DogsofLinkedIn

🌟 New month, new adventures: approach it like a dog! 🐾 As we enter a fresh month let’s take a page from our canine companions’ playbook. Dogs have an incredible way of embracing each day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a wagging tail. 🐶 Here’s how you can channel your inner dog this month: 1. Embrace every moment: Dogs live in the present, savouring each walk, treat, and belly rub. Let’s do the same—be present, cherish the small wins, and enjoy the journey. 2. Stay curious: Whether it’s sniffing a new trail or investigating a rustling leaf, dogs are endlessly curious. This month, try something new, ask questions, and explore opportunities that excite you. 3. Be loyal: Just as dogs are devoted to their humans, let’s be loyal to our goals, our teams, and our values. Stay committed to what truly matters. 4. Spread joy: A dog’s joy is infectious. Brighten someone’s day with a smile, lend a helping hand, or share a kind word. Small acts of kindness can make a big impact. 5. As we chase our goals this month, let’s approach each day with the same energy and positivity that our dogs show us. Here’s to a month of new opportunities, loyal connections, and tail-wagging happiness! 🐾✨
