This week’s session was about International Youth Day. This theme emphasizes young people’s critical role in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development. We asked the young people to create art on their own or by passing around paper and adding to it. They were given words to choose from to do with this year’s theme. The young people choose these words -burnout, inclusivity, digital, and teamwork. This week’s session we have been teaching our young people about budgeting. Some of our young people are off to university in September so we did this to mainly help them. In this week’s sessions we asked the young people to pick between 2 similar things. Pizza or Chicken nuggets? Cats or dogs? Coffee or tea? Aquarium or zoo? If they liked both and asked if they could stand in the middle. I said “NO!!! I am the government and you must choose!!” We did this exercise to show that non binary people (and other people under the trans umbrella) are forced to pick between two genders.
