Taking things to the next level 🚛 We convert over 8,000 vehicles a year, which means we have a lot of parts moving through our facilities. Once manufactured in-house by Alpha Manufacturing, our racking parts are loaded on trailers and driven around the corner to our Neptune facility, ready to be assembled. Though it’s only around the corner, railway tracks and low bridges present challenges in terms of how much product we can transport in one go. Ever ready to take on a challenge, a team from across The HEX Group came up with a solution: we would create our own double-decker trailer, perfectly sized to fit under low bridges on our route. As part of their leadership training, the team set to work on a project – managing everything from concept to delivery. This means we can now take double the number of parts on each trip, reducing our emissions and increasing efficiency. Well done team! It has been a pleasure working with Halfords on this project, as part of our Power360 strategy, which aims to introduce sustainable technologies to the fleet market. Through our collaboration with supply chain partners Portable Power Technology and REMA TIP TOP INDUSTRY UK LIMITED, Halfords can now eliminate engine idling in its new mobile tyre fitting fleet by utilising lithium battery technology.
