Last Sunday was #NationalMentoringDay, but we should celebrate the work of #mentors all year round. Bridge Group research across a number of professions has found employees often face inequalities in accessing mentoring schemes, which can unfairly favour people from higher socio-economic backgrounds. Find out more about this, and why the Bridge Group recommends that employers ensure that formal, transparent mentoring programmes are in place: https://lnkd.in/e9C5prei #SocialEquality #mentoring #DEI

A report by the Dept. for Education last week showed the gap in progression rates to higher education by age 19 between Free School Meal (FSM) eligible pupils and non-FSM eligible pupils in 2022/23 increased to the highest recorded level ever at 20.8% - up from 20.2% in 2021/22: https://lnkd.in/d7FQ2mJJ At the Bridge Group, we know the link between background and educational and employment outcomes divides our society and hinders our creative and economic productivity. Our efforts to help close the gap in university access is thus more relevant than ever. Find out more about our work in the Higher Education sector at https://lnkd.in/eg5-5cr2

Co-founder and CEO of the Bridge Group, Nik Miller, will step down from his role at the charity in January 2025. However, Nik will continue his work to support social equality, including as a Fellow at the Bridge Group. Nik said, “The last decade has been a wonderful journey as we have grown the charity’s impact and influence together. It’s been a great joy to work alongside remarkable colleagues, ambitious clients and a devoted group of trustees. I remain deeply committed to the mission of the Bridge Group and my contributions will continue – but for me the time is right to step down from the CEO role, and for someone else to have the exciting opportunity to lead the charity’s next strategic chapter.” Read the complete statement: https://lnkd.in/eiXSyt5R #SocialMobility #Opportunity #Recruitment

The Bridge Group commends all the 150 organisations that submitted to this year's Social Mobility Employer Index. Nik Miller, CEO of the Bridge Group, said: “The rigour of the Index means that there is great value in preparing a submission since it compels employers to consider their approaches and policies across a wide range of areas. The benchmarking inherent in the exercise is also vital to understand the progress achieved, by individual organisations and in aggregate across employers.” Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dwZeTRPX #SMFIndex24 #InclusionMatters #EquityAndInclusion
