Join the hundreds of businesses across Bristol that have become accredited Living Wage employers. Paying a Living Wage can bring real benefits to your business and to your employees, including improved staff motivation, productivity and retention. Employers who sign up to the Living Wage are making sure their workers’ wages meet the cost of their everyday needs. The real Living Wage is currently £12.60 per hour (outside of London). It is the only UK wage rate that is based on the actual cost of living, and it increases every year. Families will soon be moving into brand new, high-quality council homes at One Lockleaze. Twenty council-owned homes for social rent and shared ownership were handed over to us by Goram Homes this week. A safe, warm, comfortable home is the foundation of a healthy life, and on this development around 100 will be for social rent. And because Lockleaze has a local lettings policy, people with a local connection will get priority for up to half of the new social rented homes being built in the area. High levels of insulation and ground source heat pumps will keep the homes warm and energy efficient for years to come, helping to lower energy bills too. More than half of the 268 new homes being built on One Lockleaze will be affordable housing for social rent and shared ownership (55%) – helping to tackle Bristol’s housing challenges.
